Post subject:  New level of discipline

I've noticed that during the last game, there seem to be a new level of discipline imposed on the players (probably leadership driven?).

I've watched the reply and also noticed on the night that None of our players disputed the umpire's decisions and just got on with the game. Prime example was Fevola who did not even whinged about missed free kicks and just got on with the game at every opportunity. He did not even look at the umpire!

I think someone made a stance last week to focus on this discipline. Maybe Judd (after the Stevens incident which cost us a 50m and goal against St. Kilda)? either way, I was extremely impressed with this.

With the peculiar standard of umpiring it's amazing there weren't umpires being punched in the nose, let alone backchatted to.

Well picked up. Think you are onto something there.

Agree, if they can hold their cool on Sat night, they can do it anytime.

Stevo got an identical over the ball "holding the ball" decision and got on with it.
Well spotted KM. I'm sure it was a "focus" during the week

The Fevola one really stood out. When he took a mark against Michael and it wasn't paid. He didn't whinge, just gave the ball back and got on with it. Great to see.

Replayed showed he did push Michael in the back, although it was only ever so slightly.

Good to see the discipline last week. Hope it continues on. We need to ensure we don't give the umpires any opportunity of giving us a 50m penalty.

Shows that even if we aren't getting the immediate gratification of a win - the tide is turning - and when it comes it will be sustainable because the foundations are there.

There wasn't as much mindless bombing into the forward line either.

It still didn't stop us getting half the free kicks of Essendon*.

Mark Bosnich got a big fine for doing that in an EPL game against Tottenham.
