| Post subject: | Cloke for CHF? |
In a couple of years we should have a genuine ruck combination in Hampson and Kruezer, meaning that Cloke won't really be required in that role. What are the chances of him being given a chance to hold down CHF? I realise that he isn’t overly quick, however he’s a very good size (196cm), he would works extremely hard and would provide good contests and forward line pressure, and he is only 23 and will really be hitting maturity around the time we start to push for a flag. It just seems to make sense, especially without any other serious contenders for the role (as i consider Kruezer primarily a ruckman). |

already been Tried last year. Not Good Enough. Does not have the Ability to Hold his Position. Can do few nice things, kick one or two goals a game, but has very little influence playing Forward. Think Elsewhere |

like i said... he is 23, i wouldnt be giving up just yet. I think he showed as much if not more then anyone else we have tried. |

Would be interesting to try, not sure he could hold the position. Love his efforts this year though. |

I was thinking the same thing. We seem to be falling down across half forward. A big target may give us a contest at least. The main concern to this is who shares the ruck duties (Kruezer is still a kid & throwing him in the ruck is far too early imo) |

I'm not sure why Fev isn't playing CHF. Might as well try it, will bring Fev more in the play. Fish to full forward Special K as forward pocket Betts crumbing Houlihan on HFF with Edwards |

Are you for real? How many games did he play last year? When did our season really turn to shite last year? Not enough ability? |

I agree that the Krueze shouldnt be thrown into the ruck too much this year, but in a couple of years it might be a good option if he and Hampson can hold down the ruck duties. If at the very least we gain a strong option who provides a good contest and works to keep the ball in our forward line then I think it is worthwhile, especially until someone else comes up (if they ever do). Also, dont forget that 23 is still pretty young for a big man, in a few years time when he is 25/26 he could surprise people. |

Fev at CHF is not a bad experiment to try. He is quick and also a long kick. May be able to show some grunt further up the field and hold the ball up longer in our half forward line. Negative side is that he may give away a few free kicks which will move the ball further up towards the opposition's half. |

Answering a question with a question. I like that. So why do you think Cloke's possible question marks on his shoulder will impede on the experiment to try him at CHF?

Yeah id go with Fev at CHF. Use different blokes out of the square or plonk big cloke in the goalsquare ala rocca and alister lynch. Tell him not to lead to far out. use the space between cloke and fev for fisher and mids to take marks in. Collingwood have been doing this for a couple of years. That is why they score easy and stay in games even though they dont seem to be playing well. |

Cloke is way too slow to play CHF or CHB that is why Collingwood got rid of him. An opposition coach will match him with an athlete who will run off him all day eg Cornes. |

I like the idea of a big lump stay at home full-forward who is hard to knock about. It's a good idea. Have Fev leading up, and someone planted in the goal square for the whole game. The key is persistence, even if he is being beaten. He only needs to win one contest a quarter to score four goals. Don't know if Cloke is the man for the job, but I like the idea. |

Kruezer for CHF......more mobile than Cloke and a better kick.... The idea of playing Cloke at FF out of the square and Fev leading up the ground has merit and gets away from the same old same old plan of kick to Fev only.... |
