What are some of the little things that bug you about our games? Things that may or may not be in the team's control, but bug you nonetheless. PLEASE DON'T TURN THIS INTO ANOTHER "WE'RE SOFT/UNFIT/LAZY" THREAD, AS WE HAVE ENOUGH OF THOSE For me, I am sick and tired of seeing - Us giving away goals right on the siren. Seems to happen every damn week. - Seeing a pack or scrimmage (sp?) develop in our backline for an extended period, only for the opposition to somehow pull a goal out of nowhere (eg. Monga's "goal of the year") - Seeing players/teams breaking ducks or records against us (Steven King kicked his first goals in over a year last night). - Seeing opposition players kick hangers that JUST reach their target before one of our guys can reach him. But our hangers arrive JUST too late. - Watching when opposition dribbles for goal bounce the right side of the post, when ours bounce on the wrong side - Seeing shots for goal go 90% of the journey looking like going through the middle, only to drift off at the stone-motherless last minute. |

Us kicking it up the @#$%&! side of the ground not through the corridor. Getting easy goals scored on us Working so @#$%&! hard to get a goal Giving up shit free kicks Never winning ruck duals Having no run out of the midfield Always kicking it to Fevola, who drops it, then starts complaining No forward line pressure Not enough tackles No enforcers Bags of goals being kicked by shitty small forwards Shaky movements out of defense |

This is a big one, it gives the other team substantial momentum into the next quarter. Seems to happen almost every week. The bigger issue though is goals scored against in the last five minutes of each quarter. Would be great if someone could possibly do a study of it, but late goals seem to kill us. |

- working so hard just to earn a goal ourselves only to watch the opposition do one attack and score the easiest of goals - our own defenders (or sometimes forwards) spoiling each other when had they left it it would have been an easy mark for the other one - being in front and playing really good for most of the game only to watch the other team destroy us in a quarter or a half - players who play so crap against every other team but seem to grow a leg against us - opposition players shanking their kicks only for it to land in the lap of their teammate, and then everytime we shank it goes staright to the opponent |

- our players being tackled stone-cold unaware that they are under pressure - Our ratio of games where we are competitive for a half then fall away afterword; - Watching games were Carlton are not involved and realising that almost all other teams seem to enjoy some degree of cohesiveness when kicking in from a point (as opposed to us where each kick in seems like some kind of epic to just pass the 50 m arc) - The incredible accuracy teams we play against seem to have (there was a few weeks last year where teams seemed to get around 5 behinds for a game); |

I think some of you guys have missed the point of the thread a little bit. There's plenty of threads talking about our on-field problems. But I'm talking more about things that just don't seem to go our way, things that we can't really explain, for no other reason than "bad luck". |

YES! How is it that teams suddenly switch on in front of goals against us??? Not to mention the number of times blokes who are notoriously bad kicks for goal, seem to have no dramas against us. |

The fact that we have scars in our club, and deep inner insecurities in finishing off games.. The fact that we've been in front at half time, or 3QT on about 20 occasions in the last 2 and a half years and lost those games is shocking. I think, its as if we need these guys to be hypnotized and put through to the club psychologists, because as we seen last night, we have the makings of a competitive side, but we are so scarred, from the years of mediocrity that its a big illness of the club that we can't shake off! I hate to sound to negative here but this is what i really believe and i'm quite worried about it to be honest! Synbad was right when he said that our players arent drilled, were afraid of losing or winning.. Anyone who watched the first quarter in particular, cant tell me what they saw wasnt rather impressive, i know Stkilda were quite average, but this kind of footy is what we should be expecting of our side.. How many years in a row now have we heard the same old story of not finishing off games??? Last night was propably the most frustrating i have been at a game for years, i was really livid!! @#$%&! what the papers say, we can expect more from our team, and i really think we need to get to the core of these SELF ESTEEM ISSUES and this painful LOSING MENTALITY and really try to address it!! Its time for this to stop!! Listen, 6 or 7 years of this, dont underestimate the wounds this creates to the overall club psyche! The club really needs to get to the bottom off our DEEP CONFIDENCE ISSUES.. Whats the point of stocking up on all this talent, if the talent we have can't finish off the good work. IT'S TIME FOR THE CLUB MENTALITY TO CHANGE!! |

When oppositions do a counter attack, seems like there are none of our players in the middle, a couple of handballs and kicks and then it ends up to the opposition's full forward, way too easily! |

Opposition quick kicks out of packs always fall straight to one of their players, ours always land with the opposition. The ball always bounces the wrong way for us. |

The thing that is starting to bug me is wondering if we actually know how to win games mentally... I hope our losing streak isn't developing a "near enough is good enough" mind set. Another "gallant defeat", if you will... It's scary how we have become St Kilda and they have become us... |

Reminds me of that Seinfeld episode where Elaine becomes George, and vice versa. |

.....nervous feeling in the guts in the lead up to our games.....turns to feeling of positiveness once the game begins......becomes annoyance as the game progresses.....turns to high level of pissedofedness as the realisation begins that I am in for another s5it Monday at work after another loss.....cant explain any of it!! |
