Spoke well as always good to have a proper club Captain at the helm

Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant interview.

I just wish that all those posters who expect instance results from the team and CJ can listen to this over and over again. Maybe then they can come to the realisation that to build a great team takes years. Not weeks, but years.

Excellent interview. CJ is class. Gave a very balanced assessment of where Carlton is at now and how long it will take before it is a top contender. Gives some insight into the development of the young kids. A must listen to for all the chicken littles and arm chair recruitment experts. Also the clip on the Hartlett incident is interesting. All those who want to hang Hartlett should listen to it

gave a good wrap for hampson and jamison - as the players he has been most impressed with in his time at the club (of the unknowns)

I didn't see Hartlett retaliate, but I did see the Richmond guy get him after a tackle, and it did look like he was whacked twice. He was down for a very long time and after he got up, he was extremely dazed. Kudos to him for staying on the field. He just should have disguised his retaliation better, but I don't blame him at all for his response, the guy was concussed, he would hardly have been thinking too straight.

And yes, Judd is the god the universe and everything in it. Its amazing that a 2-gamer in Hampson is getting such big wraps. Hope he has a great year.

Thanks for posting, a great listen. Judd is all class, can't wait til he shows it all on the field. Hopefully this 'roadblock' won't hold us back too much...

That interview just show how lucky we are as a club to have him.

On Thursday night as the Richmond supporters were jumping for joy with their win, I turned to them and calmly advised them that at least we have Chris Judd. The reply was, yes but we have Nathan Foley

Wasn't Kane Johnson their Chris Judd several years ago? They did 'the great poach' from Adelaide and he was their white knight.

the class this guy brings to the club is worth every cent regardless of what he does on the field

Only thing is Cazz, is its hard for a lot of people to keep having patience with the boys when we've tried to be patient for the last 6 years!

But we are on the way up, we have good talent, they just need the right development and we'll get there.. We have the foundations of a great midfield and good forward line, we just need to keep building and growing the list and the rest will come..

It's just hard to keep patient though, especially knowing that at a deep level, the losing culture we've had over the last few years is hurting the team..

I do have faith tho, that our team has the talent, and finally some leadership to overcome some of these issues.. To have just about the best player in the AFL join your team, and help in the growth of the list is a huge help and advantage, and i have faith that we'll come out of this period a lot better..

But you have to understand, after all these years, it won't stop the constant frustration and scars that us supporters feel.. But i think at the end of the day, most of us can rest much easier knowing that things are looking far better than they did 2 or 3 years ago!

And i think anybody would be thankful for that! :!:

Howe many years to formulate a game style????

And its been years.......any more years... and we have the first lot of early picks retiring...

There are plenty of experienced footballers in the side dont kid yourself..

Whats lacking is players understanding the game...

Too true synners, have a look at Collingwood today 10 players under 21 and they get the job done against an experienced opposition and they did much of the same last year, we have to stop making excuses and start making inroads.

Yes but those 10 under 21 players are quality. If you don't have the players you can't win. I think the game plan Ratts has been formulating is right, it will just take a while to adapt to and we will need to make some additions/adjustments. But Ratts will come through as a coach and deliver us Premiership 17, mark my words. Patience is the key.

I'm not so sure his game plan is right, for us anyway. We over posess the ball, hang on to it for one or two more handballs than we need to.

Our skills are atrocious, our decision making even worse. We aren;t good enough yet to execute his game plan properly. Pagan knew it and that's why his game plan was minimise the posessions and kick it in long and quick to our forwards. Ratten needs to find the right balance of the two[/quote]

A team must know ehen to choke... (tackle).and fight in close....
they must know when to possess..... (kicking skills)

and they must know when to run and attack...

they must understand how to make room in the forward line....

and how to swarm opposition forwards...

and when we have the ball ... how to fan out...

we just stand there.... static... handball it to players in worse position than before...
not chase...
not tackle...
not squeeze....

this season will be won or lost with the momentum that comes early on ...

if theyre not up for it now.... forget about it....

Just hope that Judds intensity & professionalism rubs off on as many of the players as possible and that Ratts acts accordingly on those who just 'exist' despite what their surname may be.

Freo's list may have experience, but they're soft. They don't have the hunger. They'll never win anything.

I'm pretty sure it's about the execution at this point.

We moved the ball right through the middle on a couple of occasions and looked great, but on most of the occasions all it took was a handball to a static target or a hesitation and we looked sodding awful. It will improve over time.
