Post subject: | I left in Disgust!!! |
Last night, after Richmond kicked the first goal of the last quarter, I left in disgust. I didn’t leave the game, I left my seat. I could not take it anymore. For the last two seasons I have had to put up with constant whinging and moaning from the supporters that sit behind me. There are about six of them, most of them are pretty bad but one in particular drives me nuts. From start to finish and this includes the warm up, all I hear is constant bagging and whinging. For gods sake, he even bagged the colour of the balls we used in the warm up ![]() He is so bad that some in his group even tell him to shut up!! But then they take over and it just goes on and on until it does your head in. I’ve had a go at them a few times but generally I’ve held my tongue. I have even heard people in the row in front of me mention how bad these guys are. The poor 5 year old kid in front of me keep looking back at them in bemusement last night. I was secretly hoping that they would not be at the same seats this year but they are. I was polite enough to say hello to them. I even apologised to one of them as I had a go at him last year for making a comment that we should tank when we were a few goals up against Collingwood. I’m as passionate as they get and during a game every supporter has a right to delight and vent. But win, lose or draw I want to go the footy and enjoy the day. I don’t want to hear constant whinging and whining. Make comments as you wish, that is fine. But this is 2 hours of non stop whinging. That is all I hear from go to whoa and it’s so overbearing it’s hard to concentrate on the game. They are right in my ear the whole game. THEY ARE DRIVING ME NUTS!!! So much so that I have started a thread about it. I’ll be calling Carlton on Tuesday to see if they can re-allocate my seats. They made an error a few years ago where they had to move my reserved seats to where I am now, so hopefully they can assist. I also hope these people are here on Talking Carlton and read this post. If you are here, as I suspect you are, you know who I am. We sit in M12, you saw me leave my seat. Please if you read this post, take into account that you are not the only people at the game and have some respect for the people around you that are trying to enjoy it. Go Blues!!! |

Mate it's not a whinge. It's a fact. I'm just hoping they are part of TC, read this and have a think about how they act at the footy. It's bordering on ridiculous. |

I'd do a face to face ask at the Club for different seats. It's easier to put people off on the 'phone.....go in and plead your case! |

I have more problems at the games with Carlton fans moaning than i do with oposition fans. Normally only get in fun verbal to an fro's with oposition fans but Carlton fans having a moan are the worst. In the past ive had carlton fans have a go me for being supportive to the team. Get some new seats. |

I remember going to Swans game at the Olympic Stadium one year and going down to the fence to take some photos. I was right next to a group of people who had travelled up from Melbourne and, yeah, they just sooked at everything. Livo took quite a good gutsy mark up forward, and instead of giving him a cheer they got stuck into him like you wouldn't believe. I found myself thinking why do these guys bother following the club if they can only find deeply negative faults in EVERY SINGLE thing that EVERY SINGLE player did. I wonder if Gavroman was one of them. ![]() ![]() |

Get some new seats. I know what you mean. They should be embarrassed to say they are Carlton supporters. I will be on the phone to Carlton first thing on Tuesday for new seats. If they cant re-allocate them then I'll just have to look around at quater time for empty seats. |

I had a few supporters behind me last night swearing about every decision that went against us. A couple of people complained and they got stuck into them as well. To their credit they apologised at quarter time which I thought took a look for them to do. Got to love their passion at least! There were some pretty clear free kicks against us that they complained about, and I'm pretty sure I do the same thing ![]() |

I sit in the AFL Members and agree some of the Carlton supporters are shocking compared to even the Richmond unfaithful. I bunch of them were sitting next to the Richmond listed players who were watching from the stands and they were shouting out things like "We need another priority pick!". After a while security actually told them to cool it down. lol Are we turning into the most feral supporter base? |

That's why i didn't purchase a reserved seat this year, and why when i did i sat in the general public seats anyway. |

Bad luck bax...I would like to help you out by sending some security people in Melbourne to take them out by the ear, but...it wont stop them; they'll return in one form or another camelboy wrote Quote: Haha, I know what you mean. I was there too! Right behind the goals and behind the cheer squad. say no more. But that night I experienced a side of Carlton that I didn't like nor accept. There was a bunch of Carlton supporters from Melbourne (a couple in suits too) who were going off at our players! I must admit we had a gutful on the Blues Cruise over the 3 hour cruise...plus more at the game. We asked these jokers to settle down and stop the disgraceful bagging. They didn't stop. Relentless. We had enough just after half time. A couple of my mates (not Carlton supporters) and I had to physically move a few of them. It could've turned ugly, but didn't thankgod. Imagine...Carlton supporters blewing with Carlton supporters. It settled in the last Q when they returned. But you know what? That night still haunts me that I turned on fellow Carlton supporters who turned on our own. It didn't make me better than them, it made me the same. (Shivers down my backbone). I felt sorry for them and still do to this day. I remember their faces...no one got hurt, they were quite accomodating when we escorted them out the back...quite friendly. Pleased to say though on the flipside I met some fantastic guys and gals from Canberra on the cruise. I guess some mothers do have 'em. bax....move seats now before Carlton gets on a roll and starts their winning streak, enticing more members and as a result giving you little choice for change of seats. ![]() |

Are we turning into the most feral supporter base? It's what constant losing does to you. The expectation that was ingrained into a generation, it goes further than that. It was a right not a privilige to see a successful Carlton team every 3-5 years. Hope is the only thing left to cling to after the preceeding 5 years and the performance on Friday night delivered very little. Yes it was encouraging but many EXPECTED to win against a side widely considered inferior. The post game newspaper articles mentioned the word "shattered" - that sums it up for many, myself included. I (we), needed to win on Friday night. To lose like we did really hurt - enough to make me stop and think did we make the right choice with Ratten. The "feral" supporters will get more feral the more we lose. Perhaps Richmond are a good comparison because that is what we will become if success doesn't come soon. All of this doesn't excuse it but I understand it. Expectations of a generation were set high and this current side and that of the preceeding several years have had to wear that benchmark. |

I guess I count myself fortunate that I was able to be present at the MCG in 93 (even though we lost), not 95 though but watched it down Lygon St with a swag of Carlton faithful, and be at that wonderful day at the MCG in 1999 when we broke Essendon*'s hearts. As painful as today is, knowing where we were and where we rightfully ought to be helps me get through this current patch. It may take another few seasons, and I'll get as frustrated as anyone else with crap play and crap players, but you can't not love the Blues. All these bad times are just going to make the good times so much better when they happen. |

I thought the same thing. That these supporters have seen so much success that they can't handle our current state but that is no excuse. We are all in the same boat. I'd rather hold my head up high and be a proud supporter than act the way they do. These guys also go off even when we are winning. One of them even made sure he sat down and bagged Lance during his lap, whilst the rest of us stood and clapped, what a disgrace. Though I was happy that everyone else were I was sitting gave him a good send off. |

IPOD!!!! Just stick in your ipod (or perhaps one of those little radios where you can listen to the broadcast at the same time). Then you can just sit, smile and nod at the whinger without having to put up with his constant whining |

I dont have a reserved seat but the guys described in the opening post sums me up perfectly. If u are satisfied with our on field performances for the last 6 years then you have issues. I openly bag anyone Carlton related if they arent pulling their weight. Likewise, i give credit where its due also. Like it or not, we are an arrogant club and expect nothing but the best. We mst be ruthless and not accept second best any longer. |

You may be on to something. If you want them to play better you bag the hell out of them. Smart thinking. |
