Post subject: | Lacking Caffeine??? |
We have got off to a slow start a few times this year. The Tigers were hyped and I felt at one stage that our players looked like they all had chronic fatigue syndrome. Nathan Brown admitted on the footy show on Thursday night that he took caffeine tablets before the game and it gave him a boost early in games. Peter Everitt also admitted to taking large amounts of "No Doze" I wonder how many players are indulging in high caffeine intakes. Maybe we should be sponsored by Coca Cola or Mars bars........ Would the AFL take a dim view of a side being sponsored by No Doze? |

We should have an advantage there Crivelli coffee is a sponsor.. and Valmorbeda is the importer for Lavazza coffee. Maybe just the tonic they need to have them look sprited and willing to chase and run.. |

And high doses of caffeine can cause heart palpitations, blood pressure problems, and many other assorted health problems, not to mention the low you get when the high has worn off (I'm guessing inside an hour under the intense physical activity during a match), and is a diuretic. There would be at least as many negatives associated with taking caffeine as positives. You'd get better results from healthy diet. |

It's not like I live my life as a health nut...I just think that for athletes they'd get better elevated performance other ways than caffeine which is a temprary high. As anyone knows, any high is always followed by an equal low as the body fights the effects of the drug in your system. And, yes, I think we should be having as many coffees a day as possible. Remember, an espresso has as many antioxidants in it as 2 oranges. Ergo, coffee = health food! |

And tea's not as good for you because of the tannin. If caffeine is the answer.....does anyone have Alex Watson's phone number? He could be a new specialist coach. |
