Is it just me or is this lighter shade of blue that the gurnseys have been for the last few years getting to anyone? The strip doesnt look as intimidating as it used to when it was a really dark blue. Maybe the change in colour has coinsided with the poor on and off feild performances of late? maybe not? who knows?

It's Navy, but the fabric has a sheen, which is much more reflective, and gives the impression that it's lighter.

I've been pushing this barrow for awhile. I like the old jumpers which showed navy as a colour that was close to black. It was an intimidating look and it also coincides with more successful times. The shorts and jumpers are made from 100% polyester and are terrible to play in. They dont breath and they don't absorb sweat, they're less easy to get a handle on when you're tackling a bloke, which is about the only positive I've experienced with the fabric. Surely in this day and age we can produce a strong modern looking fabric that breaths and has a matte finish.

Since Chris Judd will bewearing the current Carlton strip against the Bulldogs, and for a few games after that, then I looooooooooooovvvvvvvvvveee it!

Let's hope it's a shade of Navy that in years to come we can look back at and have the same emotion as I do seeing the '95 version of our strip (or even the '99 version for that matter!)

All of those shots are under different lighting conditions, times of day, artificial light, sunlight etc. The same jumper can look radically different in changing conditions.

That's true, but the polyester version consistantly reflects the light and appears lighter than the old one. It's the same with teams like Essendon* with their black looking faded, it's the sheen as opposed to the colour. But seeing SOS in that old dark matte strip sure looks the goods as far as I'm concerned.

I agree that the old dark navy blue looks lot better than the lighter navy blue and I prefer the old woolen jumpers too, but have we considered the players, is the new polyester version cooler and more comfortable especially when its raining than the woolen jumpers as you know wool tends to stick to the body when its wet, all these things must be considered as we need to make it as comfortable as possible for the players so they can produce their very best.
