Kouta in his mid-2000 form played the best football I've ever seen and I doubt I'll ever see it bettered. |

Kouta could do what Chris Judd can do and that is extract the ball and bust packs and break away from packs with a burst of speed and strength - Kouta at his peak also had ability to take a pack mark and was brilliant over head. |

Yep, Kouta at his best was better than the team we played against. But I'd still have Judd for the next 8-10 years over Koutas 10 year period. Judd, the person, will leave a better legacy than Kouta did. |

Kouta against North (in 2000) and Eagles (1996) are two of the greatest individual performances ever. Kouta brilliance unfortunately was more in small but stunning bursts (not over the long haul). If I could get Kouta to play always like he did in those brilliant games I would take him over Judd. Also, no player has been a harder opponent to match up than Kouta at his best (to athletic for bigs, to big for small opponents). Reality is that Judd has always been more consistent than Kouta (we are talking years here). I'll take Judd (on the evidenced presented thus far). However, Kouta on fire was an awesome sight!!!! Kouta for those 14 games in 2000... there was no-one better. I remember Pagan putting W Carey on Kouta in the middle of the ground to try something to slow him down. It didnt work of course. Kouta finished with 35 possies, 18 marks and 5 goals from memory. |

After the 5th goal my friend who was standing under the Heatley Stand stairs jumped up and hit his head on them. Had to go to the hospital after the game for stitches.

The fact that if Judd didnt get injured last year, he would've had 2 Brownlows by the age of 24 says it all... Kouta was absolutely brilliant over a 3 month period in 2000, but Judd has already shown that he is consistanctly billiant over a longer period of time... and he's still got 10 years ahead of him... That was probably the best performance I've seen from a player in a Carlton guernsey... By the end of that game, I wasnt even cheering, just smiling and shaking my head in disbelief at how good he was.... Oh what could ve been if it wasnt for bl00dy Jason Johnson and Matthew Knights...

I reckon kouta for the fact that i dont think i have ever seen any one in any sport own a field of play like kouta did in his prime! In full flight judd is an awsome spectacle, but when kouta was at his peak he didnt even look as if he was of the same species as the other players! |

Both in the midfield at the same time would have been a sight to see.... 2 different players, Kouta could play forward or back, take a tall defender, Ruck/Rover, not much Kouta couldn't do. 2000 was outstanding. Judd is just a super freak, pace and skills. Kouta has the runs on the board in the Carlton jumper ATM. |

I would say the Judd burst is greater than Kouta's was.... Kouta couldn't (or if he could he didn't so much) burn through a pack and leave people in their wake. But he was our key marking target around the ground that Juddy wouldn't be..... Yeah, Kouta's prime was amazing... but so is Judd's.... Judd's goalkicking is stronger (at a guess... happy to be proven otherwise). Judd has been able to get 30+ touches and kick a bag of 5 playing most of the match on the ball. But Kouta was like a cross between Judd and Cox. A big marking target - regularly outmarking men 10cms taller - while still racking up touches and using his pace..... Tough call. 2 different players. 2 brilliant players |

How many times do you hear that player X was recruited because he was an athlete (rather than a pure footballer) with the hope that they could turn player X into the new Kouta. Makes me laugh. Kouta was one of a kind. I just wished he could have sustained his excellence for a longer period. It would have been awesome to have top-flight Kouta available from 1995-2003 (in 1995/1996/2000 form). Dennis. |

Actually he had 38 possessions and 5 goals against North (quality possessions, not like the cheapies these days) in 2000. He had 35 possies, 18 marks against West Coast in the 1-point classic in 1996. Maybe I'm convincing myself that I should take Kouta ahead of Judd (hehehe). We should use science to create a combination of the two, an unstoppable (Carlton only off-course) monster

Koutoufides football will probably never be emulated again. How's young Jamie going. 
He has single handedly changed recruiting. I would have a fit Kouta instead of anyone else, simple because: 1. He could play anywhere. 2. He could play tall, small, outside/inside. 3. He was good in the air, shit he was the best in the air and even better below knees. Ahhhh the memories. ps. now how's the junior Judd program going.
