Any reason why Setanta would be left out of NAB cup squad? I thought we'd be trying to get as much footy into him as possible Is he injured? Doesn't Ratts rate him as a tall defender? I'd rather him in a key defensive post and Waite up forward. And I think he needs as much match practise as a tall defender as possible. Maybe giving different players a break? |

I'm pretty sure he just about averaged a goal a game last year when he went into the ruck (which was like 8 or so rounds in...) and thats for a player who was getting shoved from one post to another, on and off the bench... just leave him on the bloody field! really pissed off! |

Setanta has to be in our best 22 (or 24 or whatever it is for the NAB Cup). I can really only think that he must be on a modified program leading into the season. |

My goodness. So he is not playing. There may a very good reason for that without thinking he is on the outer. |

Maybe Carlos just needs to fight for a spot this year. Jamo, T-Bird and Waite are the preferred KP defenders to start the year from what I gather on recent lineups. |

He is a nominated rookie whihc means he is available for senior selection in the absence of veterans Setanta COULDN'T possibly be on the outer!!! ![]() He must have a niggle or something. He should be pencilled in for a defensive post and more game at every possible opportunity Surely... ![]() |

We've practically screamed for the club to rest some of our players and play the kids during the NAB Cup, and when it happens people are shocked and wonder if they've been dropped. Unless our entire selection commitee collectively had a stroke this week there is no chance that players of the ilk of Jason Saddington would be named ahead of him if we were intent on picking our best players. If Setanta is fit and doesn't play in our Round 1 team I'll eat my shoes. He might have a small twing or we may just be giving him a bit of a break while we see what the kids can show us. Who knows? And unless its going to hurt his Round 1 chances who really cares? Certainly not me, and everyone else should feel the exact same way. |

It's no doubt injury related. Anything else would'nt make sense as he needs as much game time as any kid coming through the ranks, due to his unique situation. |

We should be grateful that we have selection options. Might explain it. |

I would have thought getting as many games in to setanta and Asaike was paramount to their development. |

Maybe just maybe it means that where getting some depth and players like Setanta, who many of you still don't understand has a long way to go, needs to improve and get better before he gets into the team, even if it is a pre-season cup match! I would rather see Jamison, Hartlett, Edwards, Bower and Austin before Setanta at this stage. GOOD MOVE RATTS. ![]() |

You don't rest guys who are learning how to play the game, let alone settle into a permenant position, you rest the players who know their role back to front and will benifit from the reduced workload. It must be injury related, he has shown too much not to be played and will easily be in our top two KP backman this year. Take the finger off the panic button. ![]() |
