Buzz.

He was a brilliant player but would have been recognized as a legend if he had played out his career for the Blues.

Two premierships, goal of the year and mark of the year.

If it was me, I'd say I'd made it.

Me too!
My post wasn't a criticism, it was a statement of fact.

Some great names there, but one I haven't seen mentioned is Mark Buckley. That guy could play but he was impossible to motivate. Parko had the idea of phoning his Uni lecturer to ask fif he knew any way to get him to fire up, the lecturer replied if you find one please let me know.

Simmo is 3 years older than Ryan Jackson, so this can’t be right.

Yep, Ryan was recruited in same draught as Marc Murphy in 2005. The pic that is now my avatar shows me behind Marc and Ryan Jackson at a cricket game in 2005.

It was taken by Marc Murphy on my phone when Marc, Ryan, Josh Kennedy and Paul Bower walked in to the first ever ODI Cricket game between Aust and South Africa at Etihad, and sat in front of me. They were surprised that they guy sitting behind them in a Carlton polo shirt knew all their names, footy background and what number they were drafted at. I told them I got the info from "Talking Carlton" and was a member of a group on TC that sponsored Paul.

I have great memories of that day as I had a good chat with Marc who remembered playing cricket against my son in an underage Australian championship the on Gold Coast a few years earlier. Victoria were disappointed as they only beat the NT by one run. Travis Cloke opened the bowling for Vic. My young bloke bowled for NT and took a couple of wickets.

And to get back to the purpose of this post...... Kade Simpson was recruited in the 2003 draught.

The above post got me thinking as for some reason I thought Kade was rookie drafted (I was wrong) but according to footywire https://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/ft_ ... 02&t=N&s=P he was pick 45 in the 2002 draft.

Buzz was one of my fave players. I only included him in the list because he had so much more to give and I believe if he had have stayed we would have won at least 2 more premierships in the 80s.

But yes, he didn't do too badly.

Yes. You are correct. CFC site also says.... "Draft history: 2002 National AFL Draft 4th round selection (Carlton) No. 45 overall."
I got my info from Wikipedia. They must have confused the year of his first game with his draft year.

You’re correct. Now I need to find out who it was. Was a great contest whoever Simmo played on.

Yarran made it.

And then had it taken away due to some poor choices.

Alan Hilton circa 1981.

The 19yo from Coburg/ Pacoe Vale played as a small forward-mid.
Had plenty of toe. Could pass and kick goals from either foot.
The era was 1979-1982: Carlton win 3 flags in 4 years.

In the 1981 preseason intraclub game, spots were a premium and players were willing to do anything to secure their spot in the first 20.
Harmes played as a Back pocket on Hilton in the intra club game.

Hilton's jaw was broken/ fractured. When he recovered he couldn't break into that amazing 1981 team, who played back 2 back premierships.

Whilst the team seems bereft of depth, I think we are building depth that will be similar to that bygone, unforgetable era: we should've won 4 in a row.

Jaryd Cachia

Stocky midfielder. I remember him as he was a young dad, very young if I recall and had some useful traits.

Not enough of them to make a career out of footy though

When I see that name remember a game at Moorabbin and a certain Robbie Muir, wonder if it's the first thing Dennis thinks of when he thinks of his career.
