Post subject:  Your favourite player who never quite made it!!!!!!
We all have a player we have a soft spot for who never quite kicked on the way we hoped whether that be due to form, mental aspects, lack of opprotunities, or injuries.
I want to limit these to players who played less than 50 games.

Brendan Parker - A beautiful kick for goal and fantastic hands, could have been anyhthing in my opinion, but never really got the opportunity played about a dozen games. Years later I asked coaching staff about him and why we delisted him apparently a bit too slow and far too much grog.

Tony Lynn and Andrew McKinnon- Nothing flashy but reliable and gave 100%

Leigh Snooks - Never played a game but always liked him b/c of his name

Cavedon - would have been a real step forward for women's football

Stephen Cook I think his name was... rememebr a game he took two huge marks outside 50, and slotted both home... thoguht he was gna be a superstar!

Good thread!

First to spring to mind was Andrew Phillips, a blooming career all too obviously cut short by injury. It was a joy to watch him rise through the ranks, and such a pity that he didn't have the chance to really show the footy world just how good he was.

Rohan Welsh would be in a similar injury-scuppered category, as would another old favourite of mine (who didn't make it to senior ranks at all) in Peter Doyle.

A victim of lack of opportunities was Brett Backwell; I always had the feeling he had more to offer than he was given the chance to show. In the wrong place at the wrong time, unfortunately.

Stan Gilday used to carve up the ressies - yet we were so chock full of superstars, could never get a senior game.

Was a great reason to turn up early to matches. These days, it's just the chance to hear some more advertising at concert level volume...

A fav of mine was Johnathan McCormick. Made a good denut (albeit in a 12 goal loss) and was never going to be a superstar but I thought could be a good b-grade mid. Just not strong enough i suppose

Prior to that Adam White. A bit soft but touted a freak athlete. I backed him to make it but what would I know... :shock:

Captain James Cook - a Friday night match against the Roos from memory (1996 ish???) when he was standing on blokes heads for fun!!

Warren Ralph - I thought was an out and out star
We were robbed of Motley
Scott Freeborn was progressing nicely until injured

but geez I would have loved to seen Angwin get his shit together

Big Barrell Chested Bloke, Des English kicked on when Stan didnt.

I allways thought Rod Waddell would go ok too.
