A very interesting article indeed.

Despite all the hype, or perhaps because of it, Judd wants to make one thing very clear on the eve of the 2008 season.

"It needs to be remembered I haven't done anything at all for this footy club," he said.

Oh, how wrong he is. Or merely self-effacing.

To be honest, I found it difficult to read. And maybe because he is such a straight shooter, but I didn't get a sense as to whether he was excited and looking forward to the season and whether he expects to make a solid contribution. There was such a cautionary tone to everything he said. I think it is important to temper expectations but the comment about the split round and never playing again made my heart drop.

If a man dwells on the past, then he robs the present. But if a man ignores the past, he may rob the future. The seeds of our destiny are nurtured by the roots of our past.

Judd is excited by the untapped potential of his teammates, and gives special mention to ruckman Shaun Hampson.

Exciting to read that he rates Hampson highly.

It's possible, but it's unlikely, but it's definitely possible. It's possible I will never play again, but if I was a betting man, I wouldn't be putting money on that. I'm hoping to play Round 1, it would be nice to get a hitout one or two games before then, but I won't be making the same mistake as I did last year."
The mistake was being in a situation where he played despite being seriously hindered by his injury.

What injury? I thought he sustained the injury in the match against Essendon* which was near the middle of the year?

So much Judd talk and he hasn't played one official match yet. Give the guy a break and lethim focus on preparing himself, me thinks. I think that's more important for now.

He doesn't need to show his hand & pour his heart out in every interview, he's like a poker player with the season approaching fast.

He just needs to focus, it's not only Judd but all the players on the list need to get themselves right for the season ahead.

When the season starts, sure, he probably needs to reveal abit more - about his football. However, he needs to concentrate 100% in the pre-season.

and those revelations should come out on field

He is aware of the hype and as the article suggested, he's just playing it down .. is he in SA? Will he be playing tomorrow morning?

Well I still think we will lose more than we win this year....

Bloody hope not but i have learned from the past that i can't go tooting the Carlton horn prematurely. My expectations are low so i don't go into a midseason crisis.

dont like the "vibe" of this one:

Quote:
People at Carlton seem to be pretty sure of what they’re going to get from you. You seem to be coming along pretty well at the moment.
Yeah okay, it’s been pretty slow to be honest. I mean, I’m still not fully training.

Did you think you’d be more advanced than where you are?
Yeah I thought that by after Christmas I’d be up [to] 100 per cent sort of thing, so it’s been slow, but I’m doing everything I can.

with no dominant ruckman, no CHF, no CHB nor FB, we be lucky to win more than 8 games in 08.

what the articles title is trying to say with out actually saying it, is that chris judd has come from a class act to a club catching up.

the club cant help the media is pumping up our tyres, juddy has come out and let some of the air out.

on field, juddy would have the best assessment of where our club is at. I'm sure he can see the difference of skill level, depth, professionalism, setup, equipment coming from a class act like the eagles.

the wheels are in motion and thanks to Pratt, Swann and co. In one year they have made up the 10 or so years our club was behind some of the power houses, and soon to be a club like the eagles minus the misdemeanors.

Dominant ruckman = Natinui

CHB = Hurley

FB = Jamison

CHF = Kreuzer.

We'll be fine thankyou very much.

Good to see nobody is concerned that his groin has come along slower than expected and he says he has little idea when it will be ready.

That's a nice dream, but almost no chance.
