There are a few rumours going around at the mo that Judd's groin is not doing that well, and some are even saying he won't play at all this year.

Now, I am not saying I buy into these rumours, I am just the middle man passing on this info, and I am passing it on because the rumours come from two separate sources who I must say have on occasion had some good oil. So it's not like I am getting this news from a spotty faced 16 year old if you know what I mean.

Personally, I have been to training and seen the great man do x20 200m runs at good speed, and have seen him participate in a number of training run-kick drills, and I find it hard to believe a guy who can do these thigns and run such good time trials is stuffed for the year.

But, as I said earlier, I have heard these rumours from two separate sources, and figure we should post this and see if others have heard similar things, or if anyone has any news either way.

I heard that he went a bit hard too soon, the club officially said that they were cutting his training load to have him fresh for altitude training in SA. It's important to note that Luke Ball - who had the same op - isn't running yet.

Not questioning the rumour or it's integrity in any way, shape or form, however, all other supporters from day one, have been eagerly preying on the hope that he is not 100% and that the groin is shot.

As we have all discussed in the past, the surgery undertaken was essentially the same as Brendan Fevola's and he went on to win the Grand Final Sprint that year and kick 80-odd goals.

When you invest (allegedly) $6-7 million over 5 years into one individual, no chances are taken.

He has run sub 10-30 around Princes Park, he is not faring too badly.
He may not be 100%, but we will not ask too much of him.

We'd love him to be BOG in his first 5 games, but given he is on a 5 year contract, we will just be happy if he contributes early days. The reality is a 75% fit Chris Judd will still improve our team, so at the end of the day, I can't see there being any concerns with hi slong term durability and performance.

Go Blues.

The rumors are spread by opposition supports. They have been saying this ever since he got traded to Carlton.

Why add fuel to a stupid rumor.

Judd is finished his best football is behind him :garthp:

I don't think I am adding fuel to it, just a bit concerned cause this is the fist I have heard and thought it would be good to get it out there and see if anyone has anything of value to add to this topic.

I think it's fair enough to pass on.

Anyone who has read the training reports previously will have noted Judd has come back off what he was doing even a couple of weeks ago.

Perhaps they are saving him for some altitude training, but I for one have been concerned (from afar) that he hasn't been able or allowed to continually build his momentum through training. Having said all that I trust the medical staff fully - but I guess I'm just a worrier at heart...

seeking clarification isn't adding fuel.

I'm happy for this rumour to take off like wildfire. It will make the shock to the opposition that much more palpable.

VB- as much as anyone acts like they aren't we're all concerned about judd's groins. we gave up a lot up for him and we want to see returns so it's only natural for us to be worried. ever since we got him people have been serving out the same shit to me as well (though mine are nowehere near as good sources as yours) but all we can do is wait and see. only time will shut them up.

I think he has his speed back from training reports. And that's the main thing. You'd think if he got his speed back he'd be fine. I assume he's just being rested to ensure the injury doesen't recur/get aggrevated.

i think the biggest query is his lateral movement, which is a major weapon in his game.

Good point. But no one has pointed out any problems wiht this in the training thread. How long before this thread hits Saintsational you reckon?

that's because he doesn't do any of it at training - at least not the ones i've been too. he always runs in straight lines and in the kicking drills he never makes any sharp turns - i hope that's just precautionary but naturally it concerns me. (i can't wait for round 1)
