Post subject:  Q of the Week: What did Rieniets, Kreuzer and Garlett do?

Thanks to a request from our good friends at BigFooty, the Blueseum has set out to track all those players who kicked a goal with their first kick in the VFL / AFL:

http://www.blueseum.org/tiki-index.php? ... st%20kicks

Surprisingly, this was the first time we've come across something our stats guru wasn't actually tracking...so there may be more. But if you look through Tim Rieniets, the achievement isn't clear....

Was it 1 from 1, 2 from 2, or 3 from 3?

Warby, Agro, anyone?

From the Blueseum

DANG .. Tim Reinerts is listed in the Coburg Tigers Team of the Century on both Wikipedia and Reference.com .. with no hyperlinks from the entry reversing the spelling (Tim Rienerts) scores a duck-egg

Tim was originally from the Wang. Rovers before Coburg.

I recall he came with Adrian Bassett in the same preseason....(1990)

Sorry....I've got no record at all of Gilmore goaling with his first kick.

Tim one goal only (from his first kick)...Round 6....1990.

Hopper McCormick one goal only (from his first kick)
from Round 1....2003.

All of the others...you've got.

I am more than certain that Jon McCormick and Tim Rienets actually kicked goals with their first 2 kicks in AFL football. According to Blueseum Rienets might have actually kicked 3 goals with his first 3 kicks - and that may actually be right.

I was at both games but I am going on memory - Jon McCormick played in Round 1 2003 versus Sydney at the Telstra Stadium. Tim Reinets debuted in 1990 - at Princes Park not sure which round though.

Following on from a question on TC a couple of years ago, 'Mike & Dan' chased Daryl Gilmore up to ask him about playing only the one game and kicking 3 goals.

http://www.blueseum.org/tiki-read_artic ... ticleId=14

Gilmore kicked 3.1 from 4 kicks in his only game. According to him, he kicked a goal with his first but couldnt remember whether it was his second or third kick that had his second. He also kicked a goal with his last kick.

Vin Waite kicked 2 goals with his first 2 kicks in league footy against Melbourne at the 'G in 1966.

In my post above yours, mate.... ....Round 6-1990.

My info is from my notes and AFL stats.....I can't recall the events; even 'tho I would've been there....I reckon the Blueseum would be more accurate about these particular stats than the AFL.

Hopper definitely kicked 2 goals in his first game - 1 in Q1, 1 in Q2. hether they were his first two kicks or not I'm not sure... I believe the first goal was his first kick though. Met him the next day at the meet the fans day - was a good guy, very unassuming. I liked the cut of his jib.
