From the HUN today:

http://www.heraldsun.news.com.au/footy/common/story_page/0,8033,22981973%255E20322,00.html

Nice interview with Heath Scotland... fairly upbeat on our prospects. The only slight comment I have to make is that I kind of wish our players were speaking a little more from the same hymn book. Scotto talks about finals, whilst others have downplayed our prospects. But otherwise, it is a good interview with Heath, and gives confidence for season 2008.

While they're not all singing from the same hymn book - i.e, not over-playing their prospects for 2008, it shows a lack of cohesion that we don't need, right now or ever

Ratten, who took over as Carlton coach when Pagan was sacked in July, last week called for patience from the Blues' faithful as the club begins its climb up the ladder
Is this a warning that maybe we won't come out blazing as us Blues' faithful are hoping?!

"Hopefully they are all in the past. The feel around the place is that is all behind us now and we can really look forward to a couple of good years."
We hear ya, son! And we're all looking forward to finals glory!

Thanks Molly.
Scotland has the right theory IMO. Every team should aim to play finals.
Improvement is the key but you should have a target to aspire to.

As for Ratts, I'm not meaning to be critical but he's keeping expectations low to keep the pressure off himself. If expectations are low, they're easier to exceed.

Its fantastic to hear the players are finally being educated about the game and varying ways to play it.
If we can get to the stage where we have players capable of making good decisions instead of players capable of doing what they're told, the Pagan legacy will finally be exorcised.

What's wrong with players having minds and expectations of their own? They can't exactly be told to all think the same way.

I just reckon if they come out saying the same thing it would look better for the club .. if one reckons we'll make the finals, another reckons we won't, and another reckons we're a chance at the flag, how would that look?

OK - a mind of one's own is important, but isn't team cohesion just as important?

As long as they deliver a flag, who gives a flower what they think?
