Lets play a 2 man forward line with Setanta and Betts, and play the other six guys in defence

I think Norman and Morrell are in the same boat - we're short down back and they can't crack the seniors.

I think Bryan is in a different boat as he hasn't had the chance yet, he's been recruited as a backup ruckman and will probably need to stay (barring a Mott like effort) until Batson or Aisake really start to turn it on?

Norman and Digby can get a go but they might as well not be playing.
I heard someone say that "with Karl we take a risk each time we select him because at times its like going into a game with 21 men".. That was early in the season too..

gotta be worried if i were him.

Agree with Molsey..Bryan needs to get a couple of games first so we can get a handle on how good or bad he is and if French falls over he is the only genuine ruckman left on the list...I think he deserves more time...ruckman take longer to develop.
I think Norman and Morell are different with Karl probably looking at Wang Rovers for next year if he doesnt pull the finger out.

I would play a 2-4 forward line with Whits at FF and Skinny beside him. I would have Waite & Carlos out on the 50 metre arc with Eddie at their feet and the final position filled by ADL or one of the midfield rotation.

I think having a deep forward line with Whits and Skinny playing from the goal square made all the difference in the last quarter against the Dawks.

Let Wallets worry about OUR tall forward line !!!

Setanta playing will allow enthusiasm to rub off to the playing group.
The other thing is what does his promotion say about Norman, Digby and Bryan?
Setanta will set the tone tomorrow..

From the horses mouth Tuesday night, Karl is carrying a lumbar back injury, which he has had since Early Jan. He was only selected for the seniors because they were desperate, he said he should not really have played. It has been improving, but is still a problem. This explains his reduced ability to jump for spoils etc this year, which has always been one of his strong points in the past.

He also had to pay over $3k to have his 3 teeth reinserted after the Essendon* wiz cup game (well, one was shattered, the other 2 reinserted). Apparently the Clubs do not pay for teeth.

Re: The teeth...didnt realise that players were not covered by any insurance the club might have. I think most of us would have assumed the club would foot the bill with all medical costs via insurance plans that players would pay into as part of their contracts..

Would this be the case for all clubs? Anyone know?

Agree play him out of the square and push Whits and Waite further up the ground. With Santy's and Whits ability to bring the ball to ground, Betts will have a feeding fenzy. Would not be so keen to play Santy as a ruckman yet, although at the boundary throw would not be so bad, but in the F50 Whits often has this role.

I suspect players would be encouraged to wear mouthguards.
(which I dont think Karl does )
If players disregard that instruction, I suspect the responsibility is put back on them.

Setanta must start on the ground, not on the bench. As already alluded too, let Wallace worry about the matchup.
See how they rate Setanta, how worried are they about his presence on our forward line?
If they don't rate him, it may be a nice welcome for Setanta. If they are worried and put someone like Gasper or another tall on him, this plays into our hands.
This guy is an unknown quantity.
May he tear shreads off the Tigers.
Regards Pedro. :D

Wallace and his Tigers don't know what they're in for tomorrow if Setanta plays.

They won't have enough talls to cover 'our' TALLS.

May become a shootout between the midfields and who can get the ball into the forward 50 most. I know who I'd be backing in that situation

With Kouta, Stevens, Campo, Scotland, Johnson, Bannister, Walker, Wiggins - GAME OVER.

One more thing - Richo will have his first dummy spit for the year tomorrow.

I'd stick him in full forward with whitnall. that would force the tigers to definitely put someone tall on him as anything in around the goal square is always dangerous so they couldn't afford to have him outjumping someone so close to goal.
