The almost certain relocation of North to the Gold Coast gives us a huge oppertunity to capture the inner/northern suburbs market as we will be the only club representing this area.St Kilda have moved further away,Richmond are moving to Craigiburn,Collingwood no longer have any ties to Vic Park and Melbourne are nomads whose membership grows little. This large zone gives us a big advantage for attracting future generations of Carlton supporters.

In theory you're right but I don't think North were really stealing too many supporters from anyone...

It has been a very clever move by Richmond and Saints. Housing is affordable out in these areas, which attracts young families to area. Little kids can go to their local park and watch AFL players train. This could easily help kids decide who to barrack for or the locals could make Richmond or Saints their second team which helps boost attendances.

Moving to where the kids grow up is a very smart move and a smart decision for the future.

The Blues should head out from time to time or build a relationship out at Epping/Mill Park Lakes/South Morang area. These areas are booming with young kids and young couples and is close to the old Carlton heartland of Thomastown, Lalor & Epping.

Collingwood are doing it as well to a certain extent out here at Caroline Springs (they own the only pub  and williamstown will train and play games out here). Same deal, lots of young families, lots of potential members for them.

Yes there are a lot of young families further out however almost all of the new immigrants live in communities close to the city and potentially they are a lot bigger market.

Do you feel an overwhelming urge to buy some grog at Dan Murphy's and drink at home?

Collingwood should relocate to Melton, Richmond should relocate to Colac.

Carlton would be well off moving into the Eastern suburbs. I mean, keep PP - and keep training there, but perhaps have a training session once or twice a month in the East, anywhere from Ferntree Gully to Eltham. IIRC the majority of Carlton supporters are located in the Northern and Eastern subs - though as much as I'd like to see them training over here, it's not a long trek to Royal Pde.

Actually, North's move reflects CFC's need to be more visionary because melbourne's north is a low growth area. The big winner could be Western Bulldogs. The inner west which borders the Kangaroos old ground is becoming increasingly middle class. Therefore North's traditional supporter base will be attracted to the Western Oval. Outer North will go to Richmond and the Collingwood Hotel Network, Where does that leave Carlton? What is the strategy?

Alas you are correct, but the general demographics of the area seems to support the Collingwoods/Essendons/Western Bulldogs supporters. Not many of us blue baggers here.

Oh, and there will be another hotel next to the town centre that you can enjoy Jars.

My kid will be in prep there next year.

Richard Pratt donated $250,000 to the school for an environmental park back in 2006.
