Called in to MC Labour yesterday to get my Membership renewed with my little 3yo and his carlton footy. Ran into Shane O in the Merchandise shop who was getting a couple of polos for officals and he initiated a chat and asked if Im on board again etc.. Very down to earth bloke. Then I took the little fella around to an open gate to show him the ground which he wanted to have a kick on but I had to explain he couldn't. As we were leaving ShaneO walked past again and said g'day do you want to show the little fella the players rooms!! Considering I had always wanted to see where the boys run out from and whats down there, I said 'Yeah HE would be really interested" Anyway to cut this long story short, Shane took 5 minutes out of his day to show us two randoms around the rooms underneath and the weights area etc. Always explaining all the history and always referring to how it will be better when the new stuff is built. (within 2 years he said) Great bloke and I just couldn't help but feel a happier more contented feel around the place. One worker even walked outside with a drink of water for my Dog! Backing this up with the class i saw running around at training this morning....blu skies.....for this carlton supporter anyway! PS: Top performers at training: ***Cruise Ship (his nickname from Fish) Picking ball up at his feet one grab everytime ***Jacko - His running ability is awesome, only walks kept up with him during 1km time trial. ***Bowerbird - Bulked up and skills look like they have improved ***Carazzo - Right behind Jacko and walks in 1km time trial, skills better and accepted as bona fide team leader and afl on baller ***Gibbsy - Has he grown??Looks like a man not a boy. Looks 191-192cm? |

Shane O'Sullivan - has been a top bloke around the Carlton Football Club for years - and should be given MAJOR credit for recruiting Kade Simpson and Brad Fisher - as well as Stephen Kernahan in the early 80s when Wes Lofts reportedly told him to go and find the next Royce Hart. To be fair to the club the open door nature of the club has been vastly improved since Black Friday 2002 - when prior to unless you were a Carltonian of 20 years standing or more you might have got a chance to visit the change rooms. But your right Dennis - these little things are the things that will turn your little bloke from an interested on-looker to devoted dyed in the wool NAVY BLUE. Your right - the feel of it and the vibe of it is fantastic right now. regards, Robyn Nevin. ![]() |

I particularly liked the focus made on the four legged supporter too. Top story that. |

This is fantastic news. Thanks for sharing the story DD. It's a great feeling for a dad when he can show his kid around his house of worship and feel a sense of belonging. Things are changing. Blue skies are here. I hope the vibe is the same right across the board. I couldn't help but feel the despondence last year, and even early this year. The ship has turned around and every Carltonian is on the Dark Navy Blue Prozac; the natural high. The place that makes you stand proud and erect. |
