With all the excitment being generated at the moment and a lot of discussion on the improvement of our list I am interested to know how our new coach will use them.

It was obvious that when Ratts took over last year he concentrated on us holding the ball more and controlling possession. Is that the way he will be going next season? What is his philosophy on how the game should be played?

Interesting that the 2007 Grand Finalists both played a very attacking style with lots of runners. They generally played two extra midfielders behind the ball and ran quickly through the corridor. Are we going to do something similar? With our depth in the mids I hope so!

Although there is no doubt that we need to control the ball better than we did this year, and we also need to use it better, I do not want to watch a Carlton team that keeps slowing down the play and even floods back, Pagan did that in previous years and it was aweful to watch.

We have an exciting list and I would like to see us play exciting and entertaining football!!

I hope we just do what all the other good sides do. Handball at all costs out of the backline. Retaining the ball and sucking back into play players that would other wise be flooding back behind the ball. Cats do this well because they all have strong legs and can stand up in a tackle and get handpass off. Always targetting the middle of the ground then they unleash a long pass to perfectly timed leads into plenty of space.

Thats what i hope we do. Might cost us a few games to start with though.

It's a good question cj69,

the one I am also slightly interested in is our style of play in about three seasons' time. The recruitment of Kreuzer to me suggests that we may be in the position (if they all come good) to be one of the first sides to ever play three ruckmen in the same team. One resting up forward or plugging a hole down back, one rucking, and the other one getting a breather on the bench. The height and versatility that Hampson, Kreuzer, and O'Hailpin potentially offer may enable us to lead the way in developing a style of play.

As for next season (and your initial good question)... well I'll leave that up to far greater experts than myself. But my hope is that throughout the year we are able to reliably guess who is going to be our FB, CHB, and CHF. To me... that would be a step forward,

Game plan A - Kick it to Judd

Game Plan B - Handpass it to Judd

I would be happy if we run the ball down the spine half as much as the cats do. Straightening up should be a major priority when in possesion.

oh and the give it to Judd thing sounds good too.
