How many years does Stevens have left? He is 28 next year, has been very durable over his career rarely getting any consistent soft tissue injuries, but on the downside is coming back from a very serious neck injury which some will tell you could go again and end his career prematurely |

Three more years would take him to 30. Can he go on for a couple more years after that? Can he do another 5 years and get to 32? |

I've opted for four. AFL and Rugby are about as tough as it gets in professional sports due to the physical nature of the games and a lack of protective wear. If he's been given by the ok from the medicos, then I have full confidence he can play out his footy career. The reason I say four, and not five or six years is that he has had time off during his physical peak and has arrested years of conditioning right before he hits the declining stage of his career. Forget this puppy fat we've seen him carry into the pre-season the last few years, it's the muscle underneath that he flogs 80% of the year to levels not reached by many of our players at the time that has been given the opportunity to slacken off and lose tone. Then there's the extra wear-and-tear from being the stand-out midfielder to target for 3 seasons. Maybe Judd and the on-going development of our younger boys will get him to 32+, but the odds are stacked against him. |

He has proven to be incredibly durable over many years until this unfortunate neck injury. And assuming he makes a full recovery from that, he could go 4-5 years easy I think. I think the benefit of playing in a stronger midfield will assist his longevity as well. Can spend time off the ball. |

He could probably get another 3-4 years I'd wager, by that point you could expect Murph, Gibbs and co to be able to take the reigns. |

I'm with the Duke... a man of his current age and reasonable health, plus his career as a professional athlete, and advances in health science... look, I don't see any reason he couldn't make it to at least 90.

I've opted for one and I don't expect him to play until round 4-6. I will be amazed if this neck injury doesn't impede on him in a big way and I think his longevity will be increased by using him sparingly off the bench - almost as an engine room pinch-hitter when Judd comes to the bench. That said - I hope I'm wrong...I've seen this injury in pro sport before and it doesn't bode well for Stevo. |
