I wasn't online but I didn't sleep a wink that night, then getting up, I waited for some news about what went down and then John Gatfield on Sky News said the dreaded words.

Was lying in bed, half asleep, and every hour, I would turn on the radio for the news. When it finally came through, I felt a sickness in my stomach that I have rarely felt.

Yes I only remember it too well.

My reaction was a very bitter e-mail to both the Spew and Evans with some colourful language.

Their (The AFL's) reaction was a threatening e-mail back saying that my e-mail had been passed on to the Federal Police.

I replied that I'd put the kettle on and open a packet of bickies for when they arrive.....I'm still waiting.

That was the worst night of my life and the past 5 years have been more than difficult....the events towards the end of this year and the prospect of a resurgence have made me smile again.

My daughters, 6 and 7 years of age, have an opportunity to enjoy the football for the first time in their lives. I will gain great pleasure watching them when we start winning games.

I will also enjoy watching our young team bond and play for each other and build an era of success that will rival our past.

Thanks a million to Greg Swan, Dick Pratt and Company.

Sure was a long and bumpy ride that night for those of us that braved it together on TBV. At the time, it was probably my lowest ebb as a Carlton supporter. Still, it was a plus to be able to share the now-infamous time with like-minded and similarly hurt souls.

To be honest Donstuie I can't recall but I really let fly with lots of insults.

It was a big build up to the announcement and I was primed and ready to go off....a point me and shoot me kind of state and those dogs pulled my trigger.

Earlier that night I had rung an ex-boss whom the Spew was best mates with to try to get the inside story (an Essendon* supporter need I say more). He wasn't very helpful but reading between the lines I felt that we were screwed.

I remember listening to 3AW and Tony Shaw was very much in our corner so I had some hope.

The guys on TBV gave me some great support when I was threatened...guess I was a minor celebrity for a nano-second.

They never turned up as I had expected... I took comfort in the thought that I would have been one of thousands that would have given them a mouthful that night.

Maybe there were that many that they are still working through the list...I may get a knock on the door tomorrow...5 long years on.

I'll put the kettle on and crack a packet of Monty Carlo's just in case.

No jury in the world would convict you.

Anyway Evans is now rotting in hell - eating stale cold pies and drinking flat warm beer.

Not sure what he is using for money - but I figure if he screwed every AFL punter when they had to buy his overpriced crap - I reckon he has to bend over and cop a red hot poker up the arse every 5 minutes or so.

all i remember of it was my mouth gaping in shock. they can't do that can they? surely not. surely we must take this to court. the biggest tampering of a draft in history came at the hands of the AFL. would adelaide have traded pick 2 for wayne carey? doubtful. i still struggle to believe that they did it. can't wait to insert cup 17 sideways up the spew's clacquer. he gifted north pick 2.... wonder how north fans feel about the prick these days.

I was on TBV that night.
I couldn't believe the size of the penalty - vindictive bastards.
It has taken us five years to recover.

For those of you who have children - do you still tell them that is best to be honest and that you will get a lesser punishment if you tell the truth?

I believed then, and I still believe today, that it had more to do with Evans and co wanting a piece of Elliott for his years of flaunting their rule, and they didn't care if they destroyed the club while they were at it.

Now Graeme Samuel parades Pratt's head on a spike for all to see, and Patrick Smith calls for more blood. Coincidence?

When the judge (Ron Evans), jury (Graeme Samuel) and executioner (Demetrispew), prosecution (Ken Wood) have the collective morals and ethics of Adolph Hitler, Osama Bin Laden, Saddam Hussein and Benito Mussolini - you would be better off lying.
