If CJ is available for the Pre-season comp, will he play, should he play? With our focus on the real season now (thankfully), should CJ play in the NAB cup which is still 8 weeks away; for team dynamics, marketing, etc., or should we 'save' him for the real season. Although our first game is in Adelaide (v Port), if we win, the next match would be at the dome V Haw / Sydney - is it worth it? Just dying to see him play for us but this may be just a selfish wish to see him this soon. At the Judd announcement I think they were speaking of Round 1 as to when CJ would be ready to play, if he progresses ahead of plan would we risk him? |

Ratten has said Round 1 will be the focus and we won't be playing anyone who's not ready. Made it pretty clear he disagreed with Denis' philosophy of playing our best side throughout the NAB Cup. |

Today at training Judd was running repeat half laps at about 90% speed. I'd say he'll be ready for the NAB Cup, but whether he plays or not, is another thing. |

Arses to the NAB cup. Play Bannister in the ruck. Let Chaddy boy roam free. |

Even if Judd is fit, I'd only play him for one or two (maximum) preseason matches. |

I'd say he'll be ready for the NAB Cup, but whether he plays or not, is another thing. So Judd was already making everyone look like pedestrians? Wow he's way ahead of schedule! |

I think I remember a conference at some stage over the last month where Ratts said Judd would most likely miss week one of the NAB Cup, but play a half or so in week 2 if we made it that far. I don't want to win the NAB Cup, but the more pertinent question for the thinking member of TC is this: we get knocked out by Port Adelaide first up in the NAB Cup. Judd doesn't play. Our roster of matches for the rest of the warm-ups is then released. We are going to be playing games in Albury, Whitten Oval, and Lavington. How do we manage Judd through the rest of the pre-season? |

I wouldn't mind seeing him play for a qtr............. just so he can gel with the boys in a match that's not a intra-club. But other than that, screw the NAB cup. It's a curse. Most people know that i want to win every game there is............ but not this time. I'd be giving as many kids a go as i possibly could. |

If he's right to go, I see nothing wrong with up to half a game in weeks 2 & 3 and 3 quarters in week 4. Will need match fitness like everyone else. |

Will need match fitness like everyone else. Agree. We need to slowly progress him and not just unveil him in Rd 1. He won't be much good to us without a proper workout before the season proper. |

Dont risk the champ... Unlike Pago Pago, Ratts hasnt got an obsession with the pre season comp so therefore wont risk Judd or any other player who isnt ready.. Our priority is for the players to be cherry ripe for Round 1 2008... |

Thats one of the best things ive read on here. I still laugh at people on here who were preferred to win the NAB cup last season instead of winning round 1 |

I love how history has been re-written re: Pagan's "obsession" with winning pre-season comps. At the time we desperately needed the financial windfall from taking out the pre-season competitions. We now have the luxury of not needing to worry about that - Ratten has a flexibility that wasn't able to be afforded to Pagan. |
