At the risk of bringing up old (and unpleasant) news, I was wondering, how do we all feel about Silvagni and Bradley, given the rumours at the time that these two told the AFL Commission they knowingly received money outside the salary cap. A lot of people believe this was the catalyst for the AFL penalising us (of course the irony of all this is we mightn't have Murphy, Gibbs, Kreuzer and Judd had these things not happened).

Dog Brown never coughed up the valuable info, he stuck to his guns and told the AFL to stick it up their arses.

Do some of us view Sos and Bradley differently nowadays?

You're right. It IS old and unpleasant news.

I've put all that shit behind me now, and I feel 200% better for it.

I know it is old, but it'd be interesting to gauge whether fans are a bit anti-Silvagni or Bradley these days.

I personally find it hard to hold any significant grudge against these two. The main reason for this (other than the fact they were great players) is I think this is a case where unless you're in the inner sanctum it's hard to know exactly what happened and therefore it's a bit like pissing in the dark - you're prone to hit your own feet.

What I will say though, is I have heard time and time again that Silvagni has a number of enemies at the club. Seems he has put a few noses out of place at the club. From what I can gather this is due to him singing like a bird to the AFL over the salary cap cheating, and also due to the way he handled himself a year ago when he pitched for the coaching position.

Are you trying to set a record for most new threads Virgin Blue? I guess the offseason gets a little boring.

They could have got their money and perhaps more via the salary cap at another 15 clubs if they wanted too. What do you reckon VB?

O'Rielly was the arsehole in my view

VB...I'll stick to the topic this time....no bitterness from me, they were fantastic players and gave me too many good memories to dislike them over a couple of rumours of what they might have told the AFL back in the dark years..time to press on and enjoy the Judd era...

I thought that the only reason they spoke to andy r soul was that they and the club were guaranteed imdemnity?

Anyway, like Earl would say - it's just karma.
Without those events we would not be poised for the golden era that awaits us.

If we get a premiership out of the youngsters we have now then we can basically say that the AFL helped us get there. If we got away with the cheating we would probably be dwindling around like a Richmond finishing outside the 8 for the next 10 years years.

Now we have a real chance. We have the kids, the best player in the AFL, a coach who bleeds navy blue and excellent support staff.

If we win the premiership then we can thank Silvagni, Bradley, O'Reilly and Collo for forcing the AFL to putting severe penalties on us and holding us back all these years.

We are now so bad we are getting the elite talent in the AFL.

I should clarify VB,

yes... I am feeling old and grumpy today. You've got every right to discuss exactly what you want on here - because even if it is (occasionally) boring me, it is keeping others amused, and that's important. Glad you're on here, and it is great to have new faces around.

I'm hoping the footy starts soon though so that we can all get back onto the major issues rather than the 'fillers'.

Sos is a hero of mine and probably my second fav player behind Kouta. Greatest defender you will EVER see (pffft, matthew scarlet has a long way to go.)

Whilst i'm not upset, i would like to know why he has distanced himself somewhat from the club. He barely mentions us anymore.

Jo, i believe, still has a big input. But Sos has almost been missing in action.

The 'Aints are jealous.
You know the line, "You're with us now, doesn't matter who you played for."

Why the truck would a champion footballer go and coach at a shite club like that for anyway? :?

Hard to be angry at anyone in life when they have given you much more joy than angst....

To be honest, after all they gave they should never of been put in the situation were they probably had no choice but to do what they felt was best for the club.

That wasn't fair on them.
