Nothing all that special First bit basically says to ring the number to become a member The bottom bolded bit says "Carlton Football Club for life" basically umm on the right hand side (my scanner isn't big enough), it has a caption saying that before December 21st 2007 you will go into the running for a signed Chris Judd jumper As i said, i didn't expect to see this when i opened up the paper |

Other than the details directing people to the website, the message is Carlton for Life. Much more poetic in Greek. The undertones are pretty much Thrylos's signature. |

I mentioned it to a few people who knew me around the soccer scene, as well as a few connections i have with the club, but someone else could of shared the same idea, i don't know Wasn't just for the Greek community, the club has an untapped market when it comes to ethnic communities in Victoria, so hopefully it can establish a decent support and fan base throughout the Italian, Arabic, Greek communities that are populate the state. If that means an extra 3-4k members, then it will be a decent financial return for the club... |

This initiative is a sign of the times...we are spreading our wings....looking outside the square. Campaigns with a specific target market; good move! What a great target market...the Melbourne Greek Community. They're passionate, loud, lively and loyal...this may just get the result the club is after. It should stir some passions...and they will stir others up...etc...isn't that so Greek. I prefer to have them with us than against us; that's for sure. Smart Thrylos, smart marketing, smart club!....next..the Italians, the Chinese, the Vietnamese.... All Hellenics Welcome to live life with Carlton...we'll see what we can do about the Elgin marbles for you down the track. ![]() Great stuff!! |

Absolutely fantastic - great thinking by the Board as a large part of our membership base is Greek. Would also expect to see a similar advertisement in Il Globo as well. ![]() But dont forget this is an English Language Forum and we do discourage the posting of anything other than the English language. ![]() |

If that means an extra 3-4k members, then it will be a decent financial return for the club... I would say this type of promotion is a waste of money. Good idea in 1957 but not 2007. What is the average age of this newspapers readers ... age 50 plus ... so they either like aussie rules or don't ... if they like aussie rules, they either like Carlton or they don't ... basically it is not an "untapped" market. Untapped markets are more your asian, african and arabic as they are more recent immigrants. What is the level of migration of people from Greece in the last 5-15 years compared to asian, african or arabic immigrants ... see my point. |

Don't start on the Africans, the thread will have to be moved to Talking Stuff. ![]() Tommi, What's wrong with Barnaby French? Maybe the club should run an ad in the Irish Echo. ![]() This is the first time in ages we haven't had any Greek players on the list. |
