Carlton look like they will be offering some form of MCC package to those MCC Members wanting to sign up as Carlton members. This has come from the club.

I believe Collingwood and Essendon* currently have this sort of package available, but Carlton haven't looked at it in the past.

For those of us holding both MCC and Carlton memberships this is going to represent great value. I do know of a few MCC members who didn't sign up as Carlton members in 2007 but will do so with an option such as this.

Great news.

I hear if you do sign up to both you get a fake moustache, monocle and a smoking jacket in the membership package.

I think Hawthorn also have something like this. "MCC ASSOCIATE" or something.

That's incorrect Jars, except for the Moustache. The other stuff comes standard with the MCC membership.

You really should make yourself better informed, and by the way, I need some lime for my G&T.

Been suggesting this to the club every year this decade. MCC Members get entry to half the home games anyway, so Carlton membership hasn't been of great value, but I've still got both to support the Blues.

It's great that they're doing it now. Better late than never I suppose... :-D

 No. I know someone who works there and I can get into any game I like for nothing. :P

The question I'd ask is how much this will cannibalise the existing membership base compared to the additional MCC Carlton followers who will buy a membership at the reduced price? I'm a member of both clubs, but I only go to MCG games as a rule, so having CFC membership is purely to support the club financially.

If an MCC Carlton membership is half the cost of a normal CFC subscription, is the target market price sensitive enough that the take-up will be double that which happens already?

It would be very surprising if it were the case.

As an MCC member in the past I've just bought a Carlton membership that doesn't have any entry entitlements, I think it costs like $60. So I just pay general admittance to Telstra Dome matches.

If they have a Carlton MCC membership which gives entry to matches at the Telstra Dome I will definitely buy one.

A mate snuck into the MCC via a Ron Evans company to watch his favourite player go nuts in the 1999 prelim against Essendon*.

Does this mean we might shift from Docklands when we're freed from Collo's contract?

The membership wouldn't work if it didn't guarantee entry to games at Docklands. I doubt that it would include access to games when we play 9 home games there.

Most likely would give entry entitlements to all home games at Telstra Dome. That would be the logical thing to do.

TD home games - in on your carlton membership
MCG home games - in on your MCC membership

That's how I've done it for the last few years anyway. Now it's just going to cost a tad less it would seem.

I think it will attract more members of the MCC to actually sign up and support their club, $200 might be a bit steep to go to a handful of games at TD, but if it were $100 then all of a sudden it aint so bad.

ergo, the TD home games on the carlton member = making the quota of game to qualify in the membership count??

Hallelujah! We've all only been suggesting this for, gee, I don't know...years!

I know that in a post I did a few months back that I saw in a MCC members survery that 9% of MCC members supported Carlton, and there are about 95000 MCC members, so that is potentially almost 8,000 people to target, many of whom I'm sure at the moment do not take out a membership as they already see approx. half of our games in Melbourne (when you include MCG away games) for free.

Good to see someone at the club is finally listening on this issue.

Yet another reason to get excited about 2008!

It's $131 for the MCC upgrade 6 and that gives you entry to all Carlton home games at the Collo Dump.

Great idea, but we might lose some existing members if we move to the MCG after the contract for the Telstra Dom expires.

Or, we may get more when we have to fit the other 25,000 on the waiting list (whilst home is Collo's mate's place), making Carlton's membership a cool, but rowdy 65,000 people in 1013 (isn't that when the Dome deal expires).

We should have won the 2010, 2011 and 2012 flags by then.

It would be a great milestine, as a cliche as well as a publicity motivator, that in our first year at the MCG, we play and win our 20th Flag.

Cocky? Do you think?

Well I'm use to flags...and...proudly....I'm Carlton, @#$%&! the rest!

I'm allowed to think 20 in 2013....and I'll be thanking Ronnie Evans, for his efforts in 2002 (10 years earler), whilst the Scum are still sitting (second) on 16! ! !

I am a member of both the Medallion Club at TD, MCC and CSC

I am also a player sponsor.

CFC worked a package for me this year and last, that excluded the ground entry and reserved seat

Did not appear hard to do. Maybe there are more MCC members than you realise that have members tickets
