I have read it and enjoyed it.

Good quotes from a variety of sources -athletics/footy - david parkin, his family, ang.

There is a good section at the back on statistics thanks to Stephen Williamson.

Good family photographs etc.

At the back he names his best six carlton players

1) greg williams

2) stephen kernahan

3) stephen silvagni

4) craig bradley

5) peter dean

6) brett ratten
That is pretty accurate I guess. He also names six best opposition players.

The contract side of things does come up a lot and in his viewpoint he believed that he was underpaid for at least half of his time at Carlton.

I enjoyed reading about his battles with obtaining the right amount of confidence to go on and be a league footballer.

All up a good read.

Grabbed a copy last night and am a few chapters in and enjoying it.

Did you know that kouta cjose 43 because his mother was born in 1943!

His first number was 46 before he moved onto 43. Swan Mckay also wore 46 previosly to 43!

I will probably buy the book one day. But for Kouta to even use the word "underpaid" in his book when referenced to himself is amazing.

Didnt he play for the Vics in 98. 97 when his dad died he didnt do much. He probably writes about that in the book.

94 and 95 probably on base wage. Gun in both years. Big finals game player. 2000 was the best i have seen from anyone. Not on much that year until he signed the Judd like deal near the end.

None of us a really sure the extent of the cuts he took also.

I think it all balanced out in the end and he got out of footy what he deserved.

SOS claimed he was underpaid also.

yeah, got the year wrong ... meant 1997 and half of '98. '94 I thought he picked up towards the end, didn't think he was a gun then. He had great 95, 96, 2000 and 2001. Was probably underpaid for 3 of those years, but was overpaid for the years after that. Denis was right about his jumping.

wasn't a 'gun' in 94' - in fact came off the bench in that horrible finals game against Geelong at Waverley - kicked a goal on the run from memory - only highlight of that game for us.

Dominated the week before in that game against melb. Faded in the last. Dont reckon he came off the bench against the cats. Infact he was our best player that day.

Had a fantastic season in 94'. Was a great feature in our winning run towards the end of the season.

I will re phrase it. In 94 he was a young gun.

Got the book today. Read the stuff about pagan again. You barely raise an eyebrow when its in the book. The media just blew it up and some people fell for it.

From what i have read so far its ok. Is similar to SOS and Deisel.

I am not big on these type of books though.

This is what he says about his manager, David Allison.

"He used to say, "I've hunted around. This is the right amount and this is what you should be getting."

"And then he'd come back with more."

I guess that is the key sentence regarding contract negotiations, as Kouta must have realised he was getting paid way more than the Ricuitto's, the Carey's, the Hird's etc.

Went in to get the kids some books in the city - and there was the great man signing copies. So I acted like an impulse buyer & got a signed copy as well.

He was very nice to everyone but his handwriting style is not quite at calligraphy level.
