Good on him.. he s showing more leadership in retirement than when he was playing. Even if his choice of reveltions have lacked the totality that earns respect .

I await for the anti kouta sentimentarians to pounce

Kouta for the sake of your reputation, please just shut the flower up and go away.

Your books will sell after the media frenzy over the crap you wrote so now please just go

You were once my favourite player but after the last couple of weeks and your stupid comments , not only about Pago but also on the club tanking, among other things, as well as your inability to have a go at PLAYERS who have let this club down just shows me that the sooner you go away the better

Enjoy your retirement and please stay away from the club who you did serve well as a player but let down as leader

I think all the stuff I've heard Kouta actually say recently has been very balanced and well-reasoned (as opposed to the sensationalising comments from journos). If all the people jumping on their high-horses take the time to read his book I don't think they will find anything much to complain about.

If you read the interviews he admits the players weren't up to it and wanted to improve, but felt the coach was blocking their ability to improve via training methods. What were you all expecting,? it's not like he can take a group of players off to a secret room and train 'Synbad's Army' in private.

Kouta defends himself by saying he has the right of freedom of speech to speak the truth. That being the case, then any one of us have the right to freedom of speech to speak what we see as the truth.

It's getting very tiresome. Shut up Kouta, then the rest of us will shut up.

Are you Kidding me, Anthony Koutafides is a club legend and i take my hat off to him for speaking his mind because it gives us fans an insight into why we have done so shit for so long. Too many people remain silent in footy, and Kouta remained silent because he didnt want Pagan to trade him like he did to other legends of our club.

Good on Kouta. All he is doing is being honest. if he covered up incidents, avoided questions etc half of the board here would be calling him weak. It shouldnt come as a great surprise to anybody the details of his revelations.

A great Carlton man is Kouta, loved this bit of the interview:

Quote:
Asked if he would join another club if there was no such opportunity he said: "I wouldn't want to, no."

All the dirty laundry is out on the table. In 2 weeks it will all be old news and it'll be out in the open. This serves as a great closure to the blight on our proud history called Pagan.

Kouta was a club legend, injury robbed him in the 2nd half of his career and good on him for speaking his mind. But some of the pagan stuff... maybe it would have been a bit classier for some of the former players to have just moved on rather than taking pot shots at events that perhaps are unnecessary (Campo and Allan). I'm sure this is all just to help book sales in the launch etc anyway.

Seems the bloke is finding it hard to let go of a place he spent his last 18 years. Gee he loves the place though.

I love the respect he gets from the irish boys. I hope Asaike wears 43.

I think people are getting worked up over nothing, off season sort of stuff - but I did find it funny when he said "I have spent 90% of my life here" - more like 50% wouldn't you say?

He wants a development role at carlton. But would he join another club if such a deal was offered?

Kouta:
Quote:
"I wouldn't want to, no."

I love that. This man has taken some beatings over the past few weeks but you cannot deny that he bleeds navy blue!

Development role? PEFRECT for Kouta i reckon. I'd love to see him remain involved with the club somehow, but i don't think he's got what it takes to coach.
The kids seem to look up to him! Why not i say?

On Aisakie having the #43. I'd actually really like that. I hated the thought of EVER seeing another player in that jumper again REGARDLESS of who he was. But i must admit i'm warming to the idea of Aisakie wearing it.
Aisakie did some special things last year that were 'Freak-like' which was what Kouta was all about during his career. So in that respect, it seems fitting really!

Ryan that's a romantic notion - "I wouldn't want to, no." Yet if we were not going to grant him that opportunity, well all he'd have to say is, "Carlton weren't willing to take me on in a development role and be that as it may, I've had to look elsewhere to get this opportunity."

So in essense it sounds great, but I think you'll find all players that retire from a club on their terms, would only "want" to coach or assist at the club they where they played.

I think Simpson earned the captains job but with Judd onboard and having led West Coast to a flag he probably has fair claim to the position and we might as well give it to him now rather than mucking around.

Yeah I'd say Synbad's "I reckon Judd will get it" means it's as good as done. Also, why would Judd call Hadley to welcome him to the club....

Imagine the different connotation if this thread was titled "Cousins pushes Stevo's case"!

Kouta has repeatedly stated that he has had numerous talks to Pagan one on one and with the leadership group outlining the players thoughts towards the game plan, training and coaching. If that doesn't equate to "LEADERSHIP" then supporters have no idea.

The guy loves the club, did everything humanly possible to help get it out of it's misery (including taking numerous paycuts  ) with everything continuously against him and still people criticise him. I'm at a loss.
