Was reading through the 1999 year summary in the Blueseum and saw a comment about 'Whitnall, Koutoufides and Lappin being the only Carlton survivors on the list' come 2006.

http://www.blueseum.org/cfc/tiki-index. ... al%2C+1999

As we all know each of these guys have finished their careers at Carlton, with the small chance that Whitnall could get picked up elsewhere.

In addition, two other Blues that day - Camporeale and Hamill - have eached finished up in 2007.

The only survivor of Carlton's 1999 team is ....

....Kris Massie

Did he get a game that day? Can't remember him but maybe I'm wrong.

Kris started on the bench .. he got a handful of stats so I'd be surprised if anyone remembered him

Yeah I put $100 on him being the last 1999 Carlton Grand Final player to still be active prior to the 2007 National Draft.

I got amazing odds of $100,001 with Betfair, as compared to $2.60 with Centrebet...

Instead of pissing $100 against the wall, you decided to pick a winner.

My advice: don't piss on walls.

Congratulations and well deserved.

Centrebet or Betfair?

Come on...tell us

If it's the latter, then it's your shout when I'm next in Melbourne.

Given the fact he was probably our youngest player in that side and an early draft pick I don't think it would have been terribley unrealistic at the time to think he would be the last surviving at AFl level.

We'd have just hoped he was still playing for Carlton.

 Be nice, Camelboy feels sorry for me every now & again when I bring up something I find interesting yet it seems no one else does....

FWIW I thought the symmetry of 5 of the 6 1999 GF players still in the game leaving in 2007 pretty interesting, across 3 Clubs - carlton, St Kilda and Essendon*. Granted Massie was young but after some seasons where he hardly played a game I think the odds of picking him being the only survivor come 2008 at say 2005 would have been long.

Yep, Fev debuted in 1999 and will be the only Blue from that list still with us.

Fevola's 2 games for 2 stats is Simpson-doughnut-esque.

Ah, Kris... You undersized defender, you...

I remember in 2000 / 2001 seeing him line-up on Josh Fraser and wondering what the MC were thinking... And then this year Adelaide play him on Franklin.

He seems a nice fellow. Why has he been crucified so often by his coaches?
