Hey fellow TCers. I was wondering which players ACTUALLY ratted the club out about our payments under the table. My father and I were discussing it and from memory i thought Fraser Brown refused to give evidence against the club but my dad says he did. I'd like some clarifications. |

The week before Black Friday - the membership of Carlton voted out the Board headed by John Elliott and voted in the "Carlton One" ticket headed by Ian Collins. Under advice of Ian Collins and the new board and to show the AFL that the new board would do everything in their power to "co-operate" with the AFL Commission - Silvagni and Bradley gave a full account to the AFL Commission. Silvagni was also a new Board Member at the time. The AFL Commission then dry rooted us right royally. ![]() |

Was it Brown's long service leave dispute with the club which started the investigation by the AFL? |

Collins still acts as if he did the club a favour. Fraser should have buried Wood and Dimwitrio in one of his landfills |

Look on the bright side (if you can)... Walker, Murphy, Gibbs, Kruze, Stevens, Judd > Wells + Goddard, and possibly none of those may have happened without Black Friday. Maybe God wanted Carlton to be exposed to the Devil's temptations before he forgave their sins and blessed them to return to the throne of the competition. It's a sign people... it's a sign. |

Ian Collins was the biggest mistake this club ever made. Smorgon was just a puppet caught up in the circumstances. Dick Pratt was always the man that was going to bail our club out of the darkness. |

To add to this we have to play at Telstra Dome... thanks Ian! Elliot will always be the better of the two in my mind. At least he cared about Carlton. |

Elliot will always be the better of the two in my mind. At least he cared about Carlton. everything he did, he had the clubs interests at heart...no matter how much he screwed up he was willing to screw up purely for the love of the club. |

If my memory is correct the real culprit was that idiot Manager Dave Allison. He was putting in a claim for superannuation for Fraser Brown to the AFL. Now Fraser had retired with a year (I think it was just the one year) to go on his contract, but he informed the AFL he would forgo (or not take the payment for the final year) this last year of payment. This allowed the Blues to exclude it from the salary cap. But Allisons claim was for all of Frasers wages including the final year that he had told the AFL he would not receive from Carlton. This set off alarm bells at the AFL and they decided to investigate. Fraser Brown told them to stick it, what could they do to him anyway (they threatened to ban him from AFL venues). They then started to investigate other similar situations at the club which lead them to O'Reilly and he told them he had taken money outside the salary cap. As others have said Bradley and Silvagni were encouraged by Collins to come forward and disclose their deals. I assume this was also to prevent future problems if they were discovered down the track. I don't remember anyone else giving evidence or comming forward. |
