We Won
Waites game...he's arrived.
Wiggos game, good solid effort when the heat was on
Eddie Betts...the crumber we desperatly need.
The junior group showing a bit of self belief particularly in the last
Our disposal
Our shots on goal (bar Waites and Teagues misses)
Three of the maligned four standing up when needed.
The last quarter and a half when we actually started to play to our potential

Camporeale's speech at 3/4 time "They're shot and about to fall over"... And then the capacity to go out there on one leg and play for the jumper.

That is the leadership he needs to show every week.

Apart from the glaring "How did he miss that???" skill errors - Waite's shot at goal, and Stevens dropped mark there were many positives last night. After watching the replay a couple of points:
Andrew Walker - his efforts under packs and contesting in packs was a highlight. The young man had a real dip and he is going to be great!
Wiggo - sensational pass in the last quarter to Lance! Off one step, on the left beautiful.
Simmo - Some tough running and good disposal in the last quarter.
Lance - even though he didn't get much of the ball in the first half he really contested and brought others into the play. His last quarter was excellent!
Eddie - just magic! He knows where to go and where those goals are! Just love him. He has a bit of attitude and can back it up. He is going to kick a bag.
T Bird - all class and just gets it done.
Just to balance this out a little - Campo needs to have a look at his "dive" and yes he should be embarrassed. Just get the ball Scott!
Go Blues!

Courageous against the odds win after 2 road trips and 6 day break after playing at subi - disgraceful fixturing by AFL.

A young skinny kid in a carlton reserves match at pp in 2000 kicked a few goals-one in particular he baulked the man on the mark and slotted a left foot goal -been seeing potential from him for a number of years -this season he has really arrived - great game from waite
Hats off to early work done by Ross Lyon on waitey Didnt play 4 quarters but got the points
Injury riddled team but still won.Leaders who had been questioned even though not having a goodmatch whitnall lappin stood up in the end.
They talk about the young playrers at hawthorn what about waite thorton wiggins sporn carrazzo simpson betts bannister walker
Great crumbing game from eddie he is mercurial - thanks to the AFL for authorising dodgy zantuck deal so richmond could get knobel - we got eddie instead
Multi- dimensional forward line - betts waite whitnall de luca lappin
Room for improvement
Need to start better and looking forward to game when we dominant from start to finish
Kicking for goal
Our star ff -not going round doing indiscriminate stuff so he is out suspended when his team needs him
Must get more bang for our buck we get more clearances but dont get enough result on the scoreboard

Agree with all the positives but I will just add two words

BARNABY FRENCH

Nullified the leagues best ruckman after 1/4 time and did plenty around the ground to help keep the Blues in the game. Gave Kouta and Co a real shot at winning the stoppages in the 2nd half.

I really think BF has arrived as one of the most consistant ruckman in the league. More power to you Barny. Well done.

Regards Cazzesman

The best thing would be that we played like amateurs for a quarter and a bit, gave them a lead, and slowly pulled it back.

Of course it would be nice if they didn't let teams get leads like that.....it has cost us 2 matches already this year.

Fighting Carlton spirit. Love it!

agree with all the positives, I was a big rap for Wiggo, waite and Whitnall (ge he was hung out by the umps) but our disposal was SHOCKING. It only looked reasonable because hawthorn were worse.

I've not seen a game with less polished skills than last night.

50,000 fans at our first Dome home game.

Eddie the Exceptional. Should be permanently in the selected side.

Jarryd Waite. Stepped up and delivered. All class. Fev may have to earn his spot in the side now?

Kouta. Storming through the packs in the later quarters turned the game around and inspired the team. Well played by Johno too, once he came on we started to win the clearances. This was the problem in the 1st quarter.

Fighting Spirit. Never write off this team!

Walkers fantastic shut-down job on Hodge in the third quarter and Shane Crawford in the last quarter...

*Agree with Cazzesman on the big Frog, Barnaby. Is this the same guy?
Superb effort Frenchy, Viva La France. cynics might say it must be contract year.
* Jarrod given a task, not just running around, top stuff.
*Kouta and Johnno second half's, I dips me lid again Captain K.
*Wiggo's tackling, not anything else
*Eddie the 80th draft pick, a tanned 18 yo Fraser Murphy not from Geelong West
*Nice work by the pot, and Callum hope the knee is ok.
and Pagan one of the finest quotes when asked about the AFL fixturing whether we should compain, "It's like opening the bowling for Australia with a ping pong ball"

SENSATIONAL even if it was only the Whawthorn.
Not so sensational Connexx trains

Which is about 20,000 more than if we'd stayed at OO.

You can throw up arguments about training facilities and history and break-even points and whatever you want but 20,000 people got to watch a game live in which the Carlton Football Club played some of the worst football dished up in living memory before turning it around in a very gutsy display of grit and polish.

If this club's ever going to push 40,000, 45,000, 50,000 members then we have to expose this team to kids, babies, families, goldfish and so on.

Last night was our first home game at the Dome.

You can't buy that sort of exposure.

Probably closer to 25,000 GWS. It was getting to the stage where 20-25,000 was the average crowd at OO.

Remember that game Frank, but was it 2001? I remember him kicking a couple against Sandringham before he was added to the list the following year.

IIRC a young Andrew Lovett also kicked a couple, and then followed it up with four goals a couple of weeks later. He was used as a TUP for the Blues whilst playing in the Diamond Valley League.

The last quarters against Essendon* and Hawthorn just shows the difference it makes when your stars are firing. The foot soldiers will keep you in the contest, but it's those blokes that will get you over the line. AFL game are now won in 10-15 minutes spurts as Freo showed us last week and if don't put on scoreboard pressure in the time that you are dominating play then you are gone.

Much analysing is done on team lists, depth etc but so far this year we are probably just 1 or 2 star players away from being 6-0.....on the flipside we'd be one more key injury away from being 0-6. It's a tough comp!

Lets not forget Simmos effort in the last quarter. A couple of key tackles on the wing and a couple of equisite passes by foot.

Thought T-Bird, Teague and Sporn were very important across half back. All took a few saving marks in front of the Hawthorn leads.

Carrazzo was playing well on Williams after he kicked the first two, unlucky ot be injured as he was on top of Williams to that point.

sorry forgot Barney and shouldnt have
was saying to someone at training this week that I didnt ever think he had the talent to play so well as he has this year
A real credit to him how he has improved his play and football nous
He is also doing it with little support
Most teams have 2 strong ruckmen we essentially have one.

Everytime we are playing I pray Barney does not get injured, if he does we are stuffed. But yes, I never thought he would improve like this when he first came over from Port.

Walker onto Crawford in the last quarter and a bit.. Crawford was doing some really good work for them... And I think Walker definitely quietened him.

I think maybe Denis should look at Walker running with the fitter running-types in a defensive role. Great for his development.

Yeah, I reckon you'd be right there B2TB. BF would have to be polling really well at the minute

Love your work Frank - "The Spew" must be spewing - all these types of decisions are coming home to bite him on his big fat arse.

Another decision that slipped under the radar - was scheduling Carlton to play on the Orthodox Good Friday knowing that Carlton has a huge Greek supporter base.

Nice one Andrew Demetrispew - as an Australian of Greek Background you knew this and deliberately scheduled the game on Greek Good Friday. POU SOU!!!
