Scottland is on the move.

Has asked to be traded, no sure where to but wants out.

Good news...kinda.

Sure he's a good player, and maybe I'm being a bit harsh because I'm kinda biased against him, but I would've been happy if we could have got a good deal for him.
Because: He's 26 turning 27 without the maturity or leadership of others his age; he has a bad record in terms of off field and on field behaviour; he's playing a sweeper role and is unaccountable - that's how he gets so many possessions. I reckon a younger player like Gibbs could learn to play that role.

That said, he's a very good player and has held the team together to an extent.
I'm happy if someone can contradict me on all this.

I certainly am not going to blueboy...I have been to enough games to hear him yelling at the young guys when they don't give him the ball...Not a big fan of Scotties, infact I think he is very selfish...Also nearly every game we play his opponent is the one that does the most damage to us... It's called unaccountability for your opponent...Never see him in there for the hard ball always a loose man in the backline...

I wish we could have got something for him...

sort of agree with both of you, another couple of years of watching him run backwards and in circles then? Maybe Ratten can lift him up a notch - he is still better then Houla though

I love him and I hate him.

It seems whenever we play well Scotland is up there leading the charge, but whenever we play poorly he is a very glaring liability.

I don't think he's a downhill skiier though - just frustratingly inconsistent.

No argument from the above posters in ubettsya and sean here....this move is Dumb.

I've no faith in Swann and Icke now. Why sign him up now? It doesn't make sense. SEN have been wrong before. I sure hope they're wrong on this one.

It was more of an sms sent in, not an actual call by the hosts on there.

Why not sign him up now?

They can still trade him if the have re-signed him can't they?

If anything it guarantees us something if he does go, rather than electing for the PSD.

If they sign him then he has to agree to be traded the Heffan rule.

So we're happy to Trade a guy who plays the role we all hate "the sweeper".

Surely we need to look at it from a different perspective.

Scottland played the role he was assigned to play well.... This would explain his results in the B&F and Brownlow.

Surely we don't just delist blokes who actually do what the coaches ask...unluckily for the him "the sweeper". Better at it than most other club sweepers....

Each team needs one in the way the game has evolved.Scottland is our current and one of the best at it....

But anyway... 8)

Good post Tractor. It's amazing how much criticism he receives for playing his role well. The only criticism that he does deserve is the way that he yells at his teammates. That has to stop. Otherwise, Scotto is a very important player for us.

a) He plays it well sometimes - but has nothing on other 'sweepers' in the compeition.
b) He only plays it because he is lazy and unaccountable and can't handle a direct opponent. Time and time again at the start of the game he was given an opponent.

10 minutes in and his 'opponent' and run wild - got 6 touches and the coaches were forced to make a change - upsetting team balance and - as per usual - letting Scotland off the hook.

Letting him off the hook off-field is one thing...on field is unacceptable.

Good skills - yes
Midfield option - no
One trick pony - you bet
Tradeable - yep (i reckon another team might take a gamble)
Window of opportunity to trade - small...NEEDS TO HAPPEN NOW!
