Post subject: | From the Blueseum: 100 year Anniversary of 1907 Premiership |
http://www.carltonfc.com.au/Season2007/ ... wsId=51677 Following on from the success of last year's 1906 Premiership story, the Carlton Football Club commissioned (asked) the Blueseum Writing Crew to put together the story of the 1907 win, our second in a row and overall. What we found was a ripping story of not only Champions of the era, but also a great finals game, utilising both existing resources and from newspapers at the time. Told as a 3-part series, the above is part 1. |

Quality stuff again Molsey...wouldn't you just love to go back in time 100 years and watch these fellas run around! Also - from the last paragraph - Quote: Carlton were the first out. In fact, they were so anxious to start that they came out before the schoolboys had finished their game
Can we take it from that that the Blues were the first team to incorporate the pre-match warm up into their match day routine...heck - I'm claiming it! |

Would you trade Mick Grace and Jim Flynn for Judd? |

Thanks for that Doc. It's a team effort - there's about 6 writers who run with article ideas at the Blueseum (a different 6 or so writers for Mike & Dan) and this one was a true team effort with 2 main writers. I think the resulting article is a cracker, with Part 2 the highlight. We also utilised the expert graphic designs of a prominent TCer but the Club appears to have lost that.... |

I think that guy was wondering if a larger graphic might be useful? |

Molsley Great article. Unfortunately it is one of the years we dont appear to have a picture of the team. The 2000's pictures are a bit scare also. Surely someone at Carlton has these pics. . |

Part 2 of the article is the highlight of the piece, containing real commentary on the game from the papers of the time: http://www.carltonfc.com.au/Season2007/ ... wsId=51738 We should not rest until half-forwarded is used by Dennis Commetti in a call, preferably in the Grand Final. Going on current club timing, Part 3 should be up later in the week and includes a post game interview with Captain James Flynn. For those who cannot wait (or organise themselves like the publishers), the whole article is now outlined here: http://www.blueseum.org/cfc/tiki-read_a ... ticleId=36 ps Camel, your work will be used in the Blueseum. Not sure what's happening at the other publishers. |

Final part of the story below, including words from the Great Jim Flynn himself: http://carltonfc.com.au/Season2007/News ... wsId=51863 "...but it may be unhesitatingly affirmed that their encounter last Saturday furnished the best match of the year, and the finest final contest that has been played since the League was established.†|

Sigh .. we have to wait until 2008 for the next series of quality writing Hopefully though, we won't be living in the past as we are now .. we'll all be at the G watching it unfold! If not next year, well before the centennary of the fourth flag in 2014!! |
