...but why must we always refer to Collingwood and Essendon* as the "filth" and the "scum" respectively.....not that it's respectful...

Anyway, maybe I'm too young to feel the rivalry, and I'm used to losing a lot more than most of you guys.

But it's not just these clubs - there are derogatory nicknames for every club!

I personally feel that it's silly. It makes everyone seem immature. Is there really a reason to hate other clubs? Dislike them, maybe, hope they lose, sure, but my emotion is devoted to Carlton, a team I'm passionate about. I don't give a crap what the other clubs do unless it affects us.

Then again, go ahead. It's everyone's forum. I don't find it offensive or anything, it's not that. It just makes me feel like I'm talking to angry, irrational men. Which I'm sure not all of you are.

Sean, Sean, Sean,

If you follow the Navy Blue you'll hopefully have a group of Elders around you who can tell you all about great rivalries.

They are the Filth and the Scum

and thay call us similar things.
That's the way the world goes around.
Why is our old No. 4 called JUDAS? Coz he deserves to be!
Nothin more nothin less.

OK.

We'll now refer to them as

"The might Maggies" and "The might bombers" instead...

or you could use mine

"That pack of arseholes from Windy Hill" or "Those low life scum sucking vultures from Vic Park"

blueboysean - a few questions.

have you ever watched the 1970 GF with your dad?

have you ever sat in general admission in a Pies/Blues match before (and had beer spilt over you and then then threatened by a filth supporter with a beating when you complained about it?)

were you at the Blues/Dons match in Rd 1, late 1997 - when the Scum protected a 7 point lead by short kicking it backward and wasting time for 5 whole minutes - one of the first instances of winding down the clock.

ever hear of ron evans - or know about his role in black friday??

did you see our losing 1993 GF against the Dons, Michael Long's seven bounce and goal effort - his subsequent Norm Smith and Kernahan's 7 goals quickly forgotten?

last of all - have you been to any of the other forums recently, Pies, Dons, Saints, whoever - and seen the derogatory comments they've called us?? The Scum and Filth pale in comparison to some of the terms that they often use... (and IMO the Saints forum is by far the worst).

Hey Sean, can I make a suggestion?

Sit down and watch the 1970 GF, '79 and '81 Grand Finals, the '69 2nd Semi, '70 2nd Semi, '73 2nd Semi, '78 first semi, '80 1st Semi...

Not to mention Stan Magro flattening Jezza at Princes Park, Jezza's first game as Captain Coach at Victoria Park in 1978...

Then you'll understand why anyone over the age of 35 will forever look at Collingwood as the mortal enemy.

You might want to have a look at the 1910 Grand Final which is the only Grand Final we have lost to these bastards.

Sean, you'll soon learn that around here the filth are as popular as a fart in a phone box.
