Just wondering how many of the informed posters who believed our season was over last week, will have the guts to defend their position this week? Come on. You know who you are! |

Come on. You know who you are! Or the ones on the LIVE thread during the first 3 quarters tonight. I think we have all learnt after tonight, never EVER lose faith with this side. To put in an effort like that in the last qtr after 2 long road trips AND then have to do it off a 6 day break is a very special effort. Yes, we will lose games. Yes we will lose because of a bad qtr or bad 20 mins, Yes, we will lose games because some of the oppositions pure talent will expose us, Yes, we will lose games because we dont take our opportunities. BUT, this Carlton side will never lose because of a lack of heart, determination or courage. The only difference between us and the Kangaroos (apart from positions on the ladder) is because they have taken their oportunities when presented. |

I agree - I switched off streaming (mmm) when it was on the telly - looked a lot better (from my perspective) than what was being described on the radio. Some sloppy stuff but still a fair few good things that werent mentioned on mmm because they focus on Sam and his antics ![]() |

Season may not be over, but I wouldn't be too pleased with the quality of skill we displayed tonight. Very poor game from both sides. |

mate, make no mistake about it, Our season is truely but Over.... you seriously wana tell me, that we are a finals 8 chance with this sort of skill errors? it was just awful to watch.... i dont know what happened to the game they all displayed in the Wizard cup... it was one Touch, one kick, and a Goal.... now adays they just mucking around with it.... From tonight's game, its a long bad list.... all i can remeber is the easy missed shots from 20m out.. one to Waite & anther to Teague.... the easy spilling of marks... Stevens in dying minutes could have cost us.... T-Bird ( very unlike him), ignoring team mates calls , and just bouncing the ball in the dying minutes and then turning it over for a hawthorn goal...., The inability to hit targets inside 50 under pressure and even witout pressure..... anyways, there is no reason why they cant improve on it... they all capable of playing better footy than that, its still a worry though cuase if we play the same we did tonight, Hawthorn would be the only team we will manage to beat... |

Lucky to get away with the win. Looked like 2 bottom sides playing against each other and if we'd played a better side we'd be in deep ####. |

Come on. You know who you are! You have got so excited that we won against Hawthorn ? We will win the flag now, Hawthorn are the best team in the comp ? Boy i was glad we won because the shit i was going to post would have put some players to therapy,i watched the game it was shocking but like Camporeale at 3 quarter time i was thinking the amount of good players playing crap couldn't continue.I was thinking they are professional footballers and the public dont want to waste there money to see them play like that or waste hours of their lives. I'm glad for the win i take it but i still think leaving Norman and Morrell out could have been costly,i've been giving it to Morrell for average performance but he would fire eventually so to Norman it's not like we replaced them for two talls. If we lost today boy there would be some posting from a lot of people. Boy you get excited so easily,I reckon you get so excited just after a win and think we now are top 8 side, lets see the team win four or five in a row before jumping the gun, most of us have been dissapointed this season after a good preseason, we could have lost 6 out of 6 and should have lost last night agains't Hawthorn they control most of the game, just like i said they are the weakest club in Comp and just got run down at the end but it could have gone there way. Season over, not just yet 2and half win out of 6 is still poor but if we can get Richmond we can be 3 and a half out of 7 but then get Geelong that i dont like.Carlton only hard game this season has been agains't Freo while Port Adelaide were missing players and not at their best, we still got a lot of hard games to play. |

He He. My point was not whether we should get excited about playing shit football to beat the Dawks(who did beat brisbane). But whether our season was over. Based on my tipping we will now be in the 8 unless Port has a huge percentage boosting win. How can anyone say that our season is over if we are in the 8. What a load of negative bullshit. The same people who are now dismissing our win against the Hawks as one we should have won anyway were last week saying our season was over. yet if they had looked at the ladder they would have seen that we were a game out of the 8. Tyrant as for this "more adversarial crap" Feeling defensive are we? Not sure why you decide to play the man perhaps you have no arguments |

Come on. You know who you are! I'll come out and defend everything I've said. The team that played tonight will not win many games playing the style they played with the skill errors they had. Better teams than the Dorks will smash us into the ground. Tonight was a disgrace for the most part of it (be both teams). Only players like Waite and Teague tried to stand up, but they missed sitters when they had to take them too. 4 points is great, but even Richmond will put us away with another performance like that. Let's hope this win gives them the confidence they desperately need to back themselves and go forward and actually play 3/4 of the game in a useful, game winning level. Until then, I'll continue to be frustrated and annoyed, and I'll bet other people will too. |

Post subject: | Great Gutsy effort Blueboys |
Gutsy effort by the blues down to 2 players on the bench coming back from Perth after two road trips and over the last two or 3 years name to me how many sides actually win the next week after coming back from Perth not to many so stop putting the boots in and show some encouragement we will get better if we dont make the 8 at least we r not gettin smashed like last year and we have had chances in every game So bring on the Tigers as long as we give it a red hot go im happy |

Unlike your original post, which... um..... how was that different again? ![]() Nub, let me ask you a question. How many carlton supporters, on this site or others, WANT to lose? How many, do you reckon? 2%? 5%? None? come on, mate, answer the question. |

Until then, I'll continue to be frustrated and annoyed, and I'll bet other people will too. I'll agree with all of that. The first three quarters were about as bad as it gets. The fact that I still felt we were a chance to win if we could just put together 10-15 minutes of pre-season form says much about how highly I rate this side AT ITS BEST. Problem is, sides at Carlton's stage of evolution don't play finals if they can't regularly produce their best and other than the last quarters against Essendon* and Hawthorn (neither of whom I expect to make the 8 ) we've shown stuff all. I think I probably rate the talent of this team higher than most. I didn't think the pre-season comp was a joke or fluff or whatever. I actually think what was on display there was a side that was starting to understand just how good it could be if it got its shit together. Unfortunately the wheels have fallen off somewhat since then and as far as I can see the major reason is to do with what's going on between the ears of some of our players. Yes we've been hampered by injuries but who hasn't? At the moment I think we're seriously underachieving. Until a number of things change we'll continue to do so. Rohan Connolly's article yesterday about our lack of leadership was incorrect on a number of things but the general gist of his argument was spot on. We may have cleaned out the bulk of the fat cats but our leaders are still garbage. If Campo hadn't been injured he should have been dropped for the worst performance by a leading actress since Gwenyth Paltrow's acceptance speech. Absolutely disgraceful Campo. When you get back to the club I want you to have a walk through the rooms and find yourself a picture of Bruce Doull. Sit down in front of it and ask yourself what he would have thought of that sort of garbage. With the exception of Round 22 2003 I don't think I've ever been more embarrassed to be a Carlton supporter. There was a bloke a metre away waiting to be tackled and our Vice Captain decided to pull the most pathetic dive I reckon I've seen in football 9since his last one anyway). If this side clicks and sustains the sort of form they've shown they're capable of then they're an outside shot at the top 4 let alone the 8. Laugh all you want. Due to the nature of the way this side was assembled their talent is always overlooked as journos, opposition sides and our own supporters continue to use the "rejects from other clubs" cliches etc. What's continually overlooked is how many players in this side actually have exceptional natural ability be it Waite, Fevola, Betts, Fisher, Houlihan, Lappin, Walker, Sporn, etc etc etc. I haven't used the obvious talents like Kouta, Whitnall, the downhill skier and co because although they're unfortunately still the face of the club and not one of them has shown any inclination to lead our seriously talented kids to our next premiership. Each of them has shown great natural ability through much of their careers but they're not the future. BTW, it was mentioned elsewhere that Fev was asked by a journo what Kouta had said to him after his suspension and he replied that he hadn't said anything because he knows you know what you've done is wrong blahdeblahdeblah... BULLSHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rip his @#$%&! heart out Kouta. Why have a captain if he's not going to say anything when a player crosses a line? Absolutely indicative of the club's leadership woes and it has to change. Other than all that I enjoyed the last quarter immensely and it's great to have expectations again... ![]() |

Spot on, GWS. This "speech" that won us the match... yep, good on you Campo for putting-in, even if you refuse to do it on the field. This is a divisive issue on this site, but I for one am strongly leaning towards the "Camporeale has no place in the team" camp, for mutliple reasons stated in this thread and others. We can have a dig all we like at Matthew Lloyd, but Campo's performance made Matthew Lloyd look like Glen Archer. Carlton are a team of spirit, strength, courage. At the moment, I don't think Campo possesses any of those qualities. Next year, I think we should just pay him on a retainer for motivational speaking, and not bother running him out on the ground with Carlton Players. |
