Dropped into an Irish Pub last night for a beer and had a read of the Irish Echo that is distrubted around the traps.

FRONT PAGE:- SETANTA!

Pretty good artcile which, unfortunatly i forgot to take home with me.

Basically he said that he is leaving his contract negotiations in the hands of his manager whilst he goes to Fiji with his Girlfriend and then onto Ireland.

Aisakie's future is securred, according to Setanta......he made it sound like Aiskaie had already signed (anybody confirm that?)

He then goes on to say that he LOVES this club..............and his words were very passionate. Reading the article, you could almost sense that he was fist-pumping the air when he talks of the Navy Blue Jumper.

Anyway, he made mention of having alot of fun playing in the ruck, but is unsure what position he will be playing next season - something, he says, that Ratts is VERY determined to work on over summer. I know alot of people here want him to play down back but i just love his attack and run game so i wouldn't mind seeing him have a shot in the ruck-rover again, or perhaps trialed as a CHB giving him the freedom to run it through the corridor!

Also made mention of the 'Irish Invasion' and said that if you could cap it at one player per county then it wouldn't affect the (Irish) Leauge too much.........

Good article.............and great bloke!

Setanta seems like one of those blokes you want at your back if some prick picks a fight with you in a bar. You could build a club around a guy like this.

Sake's contract was done a while ago. He was guaranteed a spot on the list shortly after his season ending injury.

Setanta is such an incredible guy. He's so loyal and passionate it's unbelievable. The amount of heart, competitiveness and sheer balls that he has is awesome. Hopefully it rubs off on everyone else at the club.

That's why he'd be an excellent choice for vice captain.

Total class act! The fact that they don't drink booze shows the total commitment of these guys.

Remember my first encounter with Big Carlos like it was yesterday...

I only had to drive 3.5 hours from Hobart to Davenport (where the boat comes in) to catch a much awaited glimpse of some young Blues in action.

It was Bullies vs Tassie Devils. And level of boganess in the crowd was only matched by the strength of the sea breeze coming from left to right.
Mitchell had setanta playing out of the square with no one else in the fifty. Being his first season, carlos was constantly leading to the left hand side of the fifty, into the wind, only to see the ball float away from the big man.

So I waited for the ball to be up the devils end, went real close to the goal umpire and shouted out "SETANTA" he kinda turned around giving me a confused kinda look. Think he was a bit surprised that anyone down there knew who he was. So while I had his attention I just said "Lead to the right!" Sure enough, and this is NO BULL, he sprints out toward the right and takes a strong mark out in front. Went back and slotted a pretty crucial goal, just when tassie were challenging. The looks i got from the tassie faithful after that, still scare me at night. Was gold!

So while Carlos was very very raw in this game. Including taking a mark but not walking back and letting the bloke on the mark have the world's easiest smother. His ability to LEARN quickly was clear and evident. Especially in the last when he pushed aside the opposing ruck from a bounce just outside the goal square. Grabbed it out of the air Wells-esk and slotted a sealing goal for the bullies...

A few years on, he now epitomizes the attitude we'd love to have in EVERY blue out on the park. If he continues to learn the game and develop his skills, a place in the leadership group will be a mere formality.

Keep up the good work Carlos! And a big HATS-OFF to how far you have come.

Didn't want to start new thread so thought i'd put this in here as it may interest ye

Ó hAilpíns set to line out with Na Piarsaigh

By Brendan Larkin
AUSSIE RULES converts, Setanta and Aisake Ó hAilpín, are in line for inclusion on the Na Piarsaigh team to play Nemo Rangers in the Cork SFC quarter-final on Sunday.

Both are home on holiday and have taken part in training for the game.

Setanta has undergone surgery to correct a damaged finger and has yet to play, but Aisake did play in a challenge game against Killavullen at the weekend.

The last occasion Setanta donned the Na Piarsaigh colours, he helped swell the attendance considerably.

With Sunday’s match clashing with the World Cup rugby game between Ireland and Argentina, Cork GAA officials will be hoping his drawing power will work again.

News from the Nemo camp is that all the transatlantic travellers have returned, but Alan Cronin has been ruled out of the game.

He broke a finger during Sunday’s City Division JHC replay against Brian Dillons and will be out of action for up to six weeks.

Another casualty from that game is Paul Brophy who injured his groin and has been ruled out of Sunday’s football clash.

Yes, i too have a mancrush on the big man. Just so much passion! I just wanna cry when i see him tug on his jumper, showing of the Logo! That shit is priceless................honestly!

And i still stand by opinion that he's rating at the B&F Awards was piss-weak.

Ruck, Full-Back, Full-Forward, 13goals..................the kid did it all. And he had much better season than alot on our list!

Can we print this thread off and send it to him so he knows how much we love his big irish ass?

Just tell them not to get injured Beano! Hope they win and all that, but boys, take it easy, particularly Aisake, he was under the surgeon's knife a month or so back.
