Did anyone else read the article in today's Herald sun by Bruce Matthews about how the filth were alerted to Scott Pendelbury by Carlton Premiership player, Peter Francis.

What an absolute disgrace that this can happen - reckon it is pretty typical of how Carlton have treated past players so disgracefully that they would act as talent scouts for the collingscum.

Can someone who is more technological than me post the link please (and maybe explain how they did it)

And Gavin Crosisca's an assistant coach at Carlton... :?

Considering Francis also played for Fitzroy, Essendon* and Richmond and the fact that we flogged him off for Marchesani (that's gotta hurt) I'm not that surprised.

Forgot about Marchesani - shit, no wonder he hates us so much.

Was he a paid employee of Collingwood at the time?

I doubt they drafted him just on that recommendation anyway.

Oh C'mon...!

I saw the Gippsland Power numerous times in 2005 and during the finals series in particular - Thomas and Pendlebury were carving everyone up - so all 16 clubs would have known about them.

Pendlebury was looked upon as a bit of a project player and he was very 'outside' during the u-18's...no reason why Grigg can't emulate this guy over the next year or two...similar footballers IMO.

If you can - watch the '05 TAC Cup GF again. Pendlebury ran up and down the wing all day and had free reign...Thomas was everywhere...

Good player and bloke is Peter Francis...has been GM for Gippsland for a few years now...i couldn't live in Morwell myself - but they produce some good footballers down that way.

I think you'll find that all the TAC cup coaches staff talk to the talent scouts from all clubs and notify them of potential players or how players are going throughout the season. One of the reasons why the scouts know when the kids are playing under duress or have other committments. Also good for the club and their recruitment campaigns in the local areas if they can push up their players and have them drafted.

What a stupid thread title. BB, you should sue your sub-editor.

Peter Francis owes us nothing - it's the other way round. Won us a premiership, and if not for sentiment and a few flashy things by the grand-nephew of the medal's namesake, could've easily won the first Norm Smith Medal.

Was then treated very shabbily IMNSHO, because a certain former full-back had a stiffy for Frank Marchesani (on the basis of one game where he beat Bruce Doull).

I've long lamented this. Francis should've been a 200 game player (including 3 premierships) for Carlton, and spoken of here in the same way as Buckley, Sheldon, Harmes, Marcou, and McConville.

Don't forget Marchesani won the GF sprint wearing the navy blue...

Pretty well surmised Moshe.

There was also a bit of "Lygon St" money involved at the time - as Frank's family were long time Carlton supporters.

I can't believe people care...

I don't believe it's about owing anyone anything. He just gave a young footballer a better chance.

What a traitor!
