Post subject:  WOLFISTER'S WEEKLY ONE CENT STATS - Round 6

Welcome to the all important Round 6 edition of Wolfister's weekly one cent stats. We here at Wolfister Inc, the big blue office at the bottom end of town, have always had the opinion that the season doesn't really start until Round 6 - it's kind of when the cream starts separating from the crap... so without further ado... here's some more of the crap!

As has been mentioned by the Stats Geek, this will be the 150th time these two clubs have met, with Carlton winning 101 of the 149 starts (67.8%) at PM+2113. In recent times though, the record hasn't been great at all - we've won only 1 of the last 5 (which was the last clash, last year on a Friday night) at PM-85, and 5 of the last 10 (PM+63). We've met the Hawks only once at Telstra Dome - that again being the clash last year, where we got up by 12 points. This will be the 4th time we've played the Hawks on a Friday night (actually, 3 of our last 4 have been on Friday nights), winning only one of these encounters (that same one again). We have, however, won our last 3 Friday night games (Essendon*, Collingwood and Hawthorn)... all by 2 goals or under.

We have won 65 of our 107 Round 6 starts (60.7%) at PM+854, making Round 6 our 14th most successful round. This record has really taken a beating over the last few years, winning only 1 of our last 5 (PM-21) - which extends to winning only 1 of our last 8 (PM-190) - and 3 of our last 10 (PM-151). We've played Hawthorn 7 times in Round 6, winning 4 of these starts (57.1%) at PM+72, the last meeting being only 2 years ago in a woeful game at Optus, that we lost by 11 points despite having most of the play. We've played only once at the Docklands in Round 6, against the Bulldogs in 2002 (in what was billed as an early season wooden spoon clash... that we lost...).

Unfortunately April 29 isn't the best of days for the Blue Boys either, winning only 3 of our 7 starts (42.9%) at PM-41, making April 29th our 171st most successful playing day on record. The 29th of the month as a whole carries a slightly more impressive record, winning 38 of our 67 starts (56.7%) at PM153. We've met the Hawks only once before on April 29, this being our last April 29 clash back in 1989, where we lost by 9 goals at Waverley (and if I remember correctly, this was the game that James "the Freak" Morrissey took us apart... ahh the memories... all painful!). Interestingly, the only draw that comes up in this week's stats, was against Essendon* on April 29, 1911, where we drew 45 all at East Melbourne.... so yes, we've never drawn against Hawthorn, and we've never drawn in Round 6!

Till next week, remember that 82% of stats state the obvious.

Wolf out.

We've continued our night winning streak. Can't win during the day but yet to lose a night game this year! Oour next game is during the day. Can we arrest our woeful day record?

Also made up for that after the siren goal that Dixon kicked a few years back- 2001 I think.
