Post subject:  The Hamill Syndrome

Firstly, apologies for mentioning the two names in the same subject line

Thanks to some local Canberra contacts, I know for a fact that one of the reasons Aaron Hamill took the big $$ to go Saints was that he knew his leg was already a bit bung and it got me wondering about Judd, especially in light of his recent injuries!

If we're gonna pay top $$ for Judd and give up high picks for him (please not pick 1!!), then we should as part of the negotiations insist on a full medical before exchanging contracts!

We don't want Juddy doing a "Hamill" on us 2 years down the track!

Sound fair??

Rich

Good point, but I have every faith that all the required due diligence will be done.

It's funny that he's on a mega-contract at the Saints in return for, well, little to zero playing time. Right or wrong most Carlton fans were pretty upset that he left. Now, if true, he knew all along his body was on the way out so the claims of many Carlton supporters that Hamill left for the money appear to have been very well founded. It's one thing to walk out on your club for a fat contract, another thing entirely knowing that your body could well be stuffed prior to signing that contract. It seems even he can't deny he is a mercenary.

I didn't realise Judd's injury was gonna have him out for four months - in that case we definitley need to have a full medical on him before putting pen to paper!

So he did that for Carlton, the club he really loves?

Nice.....

"The Infil-Traitor" is back on my All-Time Greats list.

I wish somebody could do a calculation of his time at the Aints - adding up his salary since he has been there divided by the games he has played for them to calculate how many tens of thousands of dollars he has been payed per game for them...

Kelvin Templeton did the same to Melbourne when he left Footscray. He knew his knee was rooted, and Footscray got a shitload of money for him in the day of high transfer fees.

Doesn't make Hamill any less of a turd though.

I reckon the impact of Hamill leaving the club was far more than just losing the player.

We were always the club that players just didn't walk out on. If you left Carlton, you were shown the door. We lost, IMO, a fair amount of prestige and respect when Judas packed his bags.

Only now are we starting to regain that reputation as a club that players want to be at.

He's still an up-country-punt.

Hammill wasn't even the best player at Carlton at the time let alone the best player in the competition. Actually he wasn't even the best forward in our team when he left.

Don't talk crap and say it still didn't sting when he left... yeah he wasn't the best player/forward/whatever when he walked out on us - but that doesn't mean it didn't hurt.

I guess a similar parallel could be drawn between Judd and Hamill - except for the fact that Judd wants to return to Melb to be with his family, whereas Hamill the shifty turd was nothin but a golddiggin ho... :x

And Judd can actually play football.

I don't think Judd and Hamill can even be compared in the same breath (WC supporters may feel differently of course). As you said, one wants to come home to be near his family (and probably because he wants nothing to do with drug-addicts and boozehounds anymore), whereas the other grabbed us by the balls and basically told us to @#$%&! ourselves.

In response to rumours in todays "Argus" concerning Matt Maguire, I reckon we should chase him relentlessly and forget about Judd. We need a quality key backman more so than another key guy midfielder.

Well, let me rephrase this. If we miss out on Judd, we should chase Maguire.

No, Paul Connors manages Judd, Fev and Maguire among others.
