Couldn't find the assistant coaches thread and I didn't want to put in the Mark Riley thread so I thought I'd start a new thread.

In an article I just read about Chris Johnson becoming Brisbanes new development coach, there was a paragraph at the end of the article that said Shaun Rehns contract at the Lions had finished.

I think he is someone Pratt and Ratten should look at bringing on board next year to mentor our young ruckman coming through. With the likes of Hampson, Kreuzer (hopefully), Jacobs and O'hAilpin, I feel we are going to need a farily experienced ruck coach who was a successful ruckman in the modern game. We could go after Darcy, however, I think he might be looking to continue his career in the media.

Cam Wood and Leuenberger, particularly Wood, have improved Brisbanes ruck stocks and, apart from Charman, have held it together for most of the year.

Thoughts?

It would have to be an assistants role with ruck coach thrown in.

If he was just made a ruck coach it would be a demotion from his current position as an assistant coach.

More or less what I was getting at.

He would be a full time assistant coach that works with our ruckmen.

The article states that he's bought acreage up the Bush and wants to spend time on the Land..... http://www.heraldsun.news.com.au/footy/ ... 42,00.html

"Rehn purchased a property in northern New South Wales midway through the season, and it is believed he has opted to trade football for a life on the land"

No Need....we have one of the best ruck coaches going around...yes - he works on a part-time basis; but Gary Dempsey fits the requirement very well.

A Pity, and a big loss to football. He would have been an excellent contributor. However, we do have Dempsey, now things appear to have setlled down with his health and he is as good as anyone else we are likely to find.
I haven't heard much feedback recently, but as of last preseason the noises about his work were excellent.
Now he may actually have some ruck talent to play with, even though they are babies, it may begin to look a little different.
