Didn't rule out trading our high picks- depending on what's offered. Didn't confirm Kreuzer- said he leaves that up to the recruiters. Said Fev not up for trade. Had meetings with players last week. Still to decide on assistants. |

i read in the paper today that swann said we'd trade our no.1 pick if we were offered something unbelievable, i was under the impression that you aren't allowed to trade priority picks, is this true? |

Papers have trotted out the same story for the past 3 years. "Blues don't rule out trading draft picks". Any side would be stupid to rule anything out. This means other clubs think they're in with a show to get hold of a high pick and can show us what they have. In our position, it's a seller's market. Such a dumb non-story. |

Didnt the AFL change the rule shortly after Croad was traded? |

I really hope we dont trade away any picks. We should develop our own which will be far more satisfying when we return as a power. |

Made to fill up some left over advertising space. |

As above. I can't even begin to imagine what a deal would have to be for us to seriously consider trading #1 or #3. It won't happen. |

I would absolutely go ballistic if we traded our first two picks.. i dnt care if its for Judd and J Brown combined..... They should be off the table no matter what we are offered. |

My sentiments exactly Synbad. The Blues should take a good hard look at Geelong. There's a side that largely grew up together, let's keep our picks and build a close knit side over time. Let them all step up together and suddenly dominate the competition. If the club traded a pick for a 25 year old who has 4-6 years left, I'd just about burn my membership. |

Valid points raised by you and Synbad, but Geelong have without doubt the best F/S selections: G. Ablett N. Ablett M. Scarlett T. Hawkins M. Blake The bottom 2 are still to be proven at elite level, but 2 are all-Australian quality, all gained with 3rd round selections. |

Yes but those players are home grown and synonymous with our early picks...' I would spew if trades eventuated and we got back to ur old habits. This is not a race... ts about doing things properly and thoroughly and laying down all the right foundations for long term prosperity. If they go trading early picks it would be the club telling us all they cant do it... .. that its too hard... and the only way we can go forward is trying to pinch other clubs players....... I dont care who they are..... i want our pick 1 and 3 kept for us.... |

Ratten did not rule out trading the pick. I really didn't like the way he said it either. That could me be me reading too much into it but...it didn't sound that good. He did say that they were going to sit down and look at all the uncontracted players around the league. When asked about Kreuzer he said that #1 hadn't been decided and he specifically mentioned that he had seen Morton and really thought that he was something special, but he would be guided by the recruiting staff. Said that they were going to find the best people to be assistants whether they were already at Carlton or somewhere else. Mentioned that Icke was interstate this week so the final decisions would probably be made in the next couple of weeks. Oh, and he categorically ruled out trading Fevola. He said that match winners like him are impossible to find. Repeated the news that Whitnall is having an arthriscope on Wednesday and his future will be detirmined by what the surgeon finds. |

I want to keep our picks too, but Jonathan Brown would make me frame Pick 3, polish it and present it to Lethal on my bare bottom. I'll keep Pick 1 though |
