AFL allows room in draw for origin game

The Tigers have also requested a stand-alone game at the MCG in late June or early July — the prospective date for the second mid-year break — to celebrate the club's centenary.

Richmond was hopeful of playing Carlton in that game and plans to wear its original guernsey as part of its centenary festivities.

Great news for us if it comes off.

For those of you who don't remember the centenary match against the filth in '92, it was MASSIVE.

National tv exposure and a finals atmosphere for our youngsters - make it happen AFL!

As I recall we also won - and "The Filth" were spewing we ruined their party.

Might have been "The Diesel's" first game for Carlton as well - he certainly ripped them a new one in that game - and in the last quarter Andrew Cavedon took 3 or 4 marks across the half back line to turn back Collingwood attacks - thought he had come of age in that game.

What about the Save our Skins Game played at Windy Hill

Carlton from the 60's and 70's V Richmond of the same era.
I still have the record.

Rex Hunt called the game over the PA.

Whale Roberts went to the bar while on a lead and never made it back.

My lasting memory of that game is Tony Shaw giving Ronnie Deiulio a smack in the moosh and Ronnie going down like he'd been shot :-D

That and Sticks dominating the forward line.

Thems were the days.

I remember watching him carve it up in the u19's. Kicked a shitload of goals one year at that level IIRC. I thought he and Kouta were gunna be superstars.

At least I had one right

Centenary game v Pies - it was Diesel's 2nd game for the Blues. Blues had played on the Sunday v Dogs. Coming off just a three day break the Blues won by 33 points. Sticks kicked 7, Sos 4 and Williams & Gleeson both had 30 plus disposals.

Great work, kkk.

Indeed it was Diesel's second game.

My life as a promoter of a history website just gets better.

We had our pants pulled down by the Doggies too. Kolyniuk tore us a new arsehole.

It was the year that Terry Wheeler announced that the Dogs would win the premiership the week before they played us at PP later in the year - and we destroyed 'em.

I was only 12 when that game was on but I can remember it being a massive build up and a definate finals atmosphere. All I can remember of that game itself was that I couldnt believe how good diesel was and Kernahan being unstoppable. It was a great feeling to beat them and was the start of us becoming a top team again. It would be great to be a part of it again with Richmond.
