Any chance young Simpson might get a run this week? Has been in very strong form in the 'Ants so far?

Further to this, I may be highlighting my absence from any sort of football training for 10 years or more, but in Kade Simpson's Fanfile on the CFC website he mentions the exercise/drill he hates the most - Fartlek!

Does this involve pulling Fev's finger and then sprinting out of range of ground zero?

Please enlighten me...

'More beans please Mr. Taggert'
Ah Sherriff, that scene from Blazing Saddles. Hard to beat a good fart joke.
Regards Pedro.

Fartlek is a Swedish word meaning "speed play'

In essence you run a distance but you vary the pace. So you will run at an easy pace and then run hard for a period and repeat this a number of times. If done properly it F@#king hurts. I used to hate it when I was a triathlete. The idea of the training is to build up aerobic conditioning as well as the ability to clear waste products from the bloodstream post effort.

fartlek= fart + lek

fart
intransitive verb
to expel intestinal gas from the anus :P

lek
noun
Etymology: Swedish, short for lekställe mating ground, from lek mating, sport + ställe place
: an assembly area where animals (as the prairie chicken) carry on display and courtship behavior

sound like some sort of kinky mating ritual... no wonder Simmo's not into it.

That's funny because Shaun McManus listed it as his favourite training exercise...
