Post subject:  A peace offering...

The mods can move this if they see fit, but I wanted to say this.

Everyone here knows my stand on the direction we’ve been taking in that latter part of the year, and that more than anything I want to see my team win, regardless of the situation. For those that don’t know this, you’re probably better off you haven’t had me nipping at your heels annoying the shit out of you ;)

The season is now over, and our prize is coming (Kreuzer), so to continue on my rants makes no sense and serves no purpose. We have a new season to look forward to and hopefully a prosperous future ahead. I don’t like arguing and bickering with my fellow Carlton supporters, as much as I don’t like hearing my fellow Carlton supporters barracking for our opposition, but I understand that we’re all right, but we’re also all wrong. Yet neither of us should make any apologies for this.

I hope that now both of these problems will be a thing of the past. I don’t want to argue with my navy blue brethren, but I also don’t want to see them cheering for our opposition to win. We are the greatest sporting club in the land, our history is a history of success, confidence and solidarity, and I only hope that from this moment on we can work solely to rebuild this culture of a football club that we love and has given us many happy memories. I hope that the days of mediocrity and uncertainty are behind us, and I am confident that with messyrs Ratts, Pratt, Swann and Icke at the helm that we are now set on this path back to greatness.

I look forward to 2008 as another step in that evolution, and (to paraphrase Roger Waters) see the new kids arriving at our great club as another brick in our wall of unity and success. I see improved performances, I see people like Walker, Gibbs, Murphy, Simpson all challenging the elite of this competition. But more than anything what I hope to see is unity, both on and off the field, whether it be from the highest echelons of management or to the lowliest of our supporters.

Let’s move towards 2008 united, and say to everyone else that "WE ARE CARLTON, AND @#$%&! THE REST!"

Here's hoping this is the last time the club will be in this position. I hope we never win 4 games in a season again. I don't expect us to change the world next year, but its not too much to expect 8 wins is it?

Everything now has to focus on the rebirth of the club. The excuses are over, Pagan is gone, pick 1 is secure and the club can start to really move forward. Some of the kids looked great today, but it wasn't a fair dinkum game of footy.

Let's hope we never go through this end of season crap again.

Don't worry don. God forbid if we're in the same position next year I promise to fight the good fight with you.

Enough is enough. SURELY we now have enough early draft picks on our list that there can be no more excuses about picks having been taken away, draft rules change etc, no plausable basis on which to argue that "just one more pick" will make things better, and most of all no basis for complaining that it would all somehow be better if the coach went.

Next season I want to see progress. Real, quantifiable progress. We don't have to play finals, but if priority picks even still exist next season then I want us to be out of contention for one by at least round 14, and ideally I'd like us to be fighting it out for that last spot in the eight right down to the wire.

In short, if I'm cheering for the opposition again in round 22 next year somebody please shoot me.

Just remember Don; you and all the other anti-tankers are not allowed to celebrate at all, when Kruezer does anything remotely good. :P

Yes, I'm kidding.

As far as I am concerned nobody needs to apologise in that everyone wants whats best for Carlton. Makeing it personal is what people need to look at themselves for. Healthy debate is never something to regret

I have to discuss with other mods, but anyone mentioning the tanking word in 2008 will receive a 1 month ban

Immanuel Kant was a
real pissant who was very rarely stable,
Heidegger, Heidegger was a boozy beggar who could
think you under the table,
David Hume could out-consume Schopenhauer and Hegel,
And Wittgenstein was a beery swine
who was just as schloshed as Schlegel.
There's nothing Nietzsche
couldn't teach ya 'bout the raising of the wrist,
Socrates himself was permanently pissed
John Stuart Mill, of his own free will,
with half a pint of shandy was particularly ill,
Plato, they say, could stick it away,
half a crate of whiskey every day,
Aristotle, Aristotle was a beggar for the bottle,
Hobbes was fond of his dram,
And Rene Descartes was a drunken fart,
"I drink therefore I am."
Yes, Socrates himself is particularly missed;
A lovely little thinker
but a bugger when he's pissed.
