Picture this.......

we're a point down and win a free kick 25 metres out as the final siren sounds......

Simmos been knocked out, can't take the kick, any score costs us the number 1 pick........

Who do we hand the ball to?

They must not score, they are ....THE SACRIFICIAL LAMB.

My nomination......BIG RED....... :)

setanta... tell him to walk to within a metre of the bloke on the mark (as opposed to his normal metre and a half) and kick it straight into him. no-one will throw accusations, just a bit of a slap of the forehead and say funny irishman.

Who cares who takes it. As long as they run off the line, then the ump has to call play on, and given that the siren has sounded, as they say in the classics "Game over, man!"

got a feeling Lance isn't all that excited about the prospect of adding more talented players to our list.

Strangely enough, I thought of this type of scenario and concluded thast it would be best for someone to lead and have the ball kicked to him. The ump would then call the game and the player could claim that it was just a natural reaction to respond to the lead.

Hell I hate wishing for heroic losses. I recall talking to people on the members bus from Woodville/West torrens in Adelaide and describing the best scenario against Port would be to lose by a point due to a dodgy umpiring decision in the last few seconds of the game. I recall thinking the same for the Bombers game that if we could have a moral victory without actually winning the game it would be the best result. I went to the Bombers game and barracked my heart out for a win - actually wanted to win during the game despite what it would have cost us but then was not all that disappointed with the result. I hope we do not find ourselves in this type of pposition again in the near future as I could not take it. I think i can withstand one more week though when we consider what it could mean for the future.

What hypocryte is M Malthouse speaking out against tanking when his side is greatly enhanced by 2 players obtained by tanking. And did we hear any outcry when St Kilda were ther beneficiaries of many years of finishing last?

Here is another twist what if carlton is one point behind Melbourne with one minute to go and gets a free kick in the back line and Melbourne keeps on giving Carlton fifty meters penalties to the player with the ball till that player with the ball is at point blank ranch, what happens then?

The solution...........

Start a fight and get any free kicks reversed..........

Have you heard about punching someone to get the free reversed?

We could have a brawl of '80s proportions......
half the team get half a year each....
and because Andy is so stubborn - we'll get picks 1 and 2 next year as well!
it'll be another painful year added to the rebuilding, but we'll be an absolute superpower.

just kidding folks
I am sick of draft pick talk - I wanna see us start to get it together in '08.

Percy Jones should take the kick.

Ackland can hold his walking stick while he does it.

He's gotta be good for something... :?

Gibbs should take the free, then when the siren goes raise the ball in the air Justin Murphy style and celebrate!
