I am hoping that 2008 can see the return of the Carlton of old and what better way to signify it and to let Carlton's opponents know that our team is back on track than BY BRINGING BACK THE PROPER CARLTON GUERNSEY.

Bring back the CFC monogram - the one worn with pride from 1920's to 1997.

This is a guernsey of pride.

The present guernsey is one of humiliating defeats.

Maybe there are other ways to start anew in 2008?

Won't happen but good idea of course.

Couldn't see the crap, I mean clash, strip being modified so soon either.

But we can still hope.

They should bring in my version of the CFC, which is a melding of the 1920-97 and the newest one.

Not because I thought of it, but to me it's a good combination of history and future. It has strength and is instantly recognisable.

maybe dick pratt will also want it to come back, i'm sure it means a lot more to him than the one we have now. combined with all the support it gets from supporters i think it's a chance of happening and i wouldn't be surprised if the laurel wreaths on our emblem were brought back either.

You'll find more discussion at this thread of jumpers, logos and of course, the 'notches'.

I like the jumper of 1998- 2005. just looks stylish. Pre 1998 looks like the mums of the u14's has sewn them on. Not that i'm dissn mums of u14's across the nation but we are a professional club.

maybe the way they used to make them pre 1998 did, butthe way they had our heritage jumper done for last year and the couple of years before that looked very professional imo.

I agree - I think the newer jumper looks heaps better than the old ones. The jumper in the 70's (and before) was a lot different from the 90's and every jumper varied. I have a jumper from the 82 GF and a generic club one from the 90's - the current one beats them hands down.

Changing the jumper again will not make us a better club - there is no use drawing a nexus between poor performance and a different monogram. The jumper is fine as it is. Leave it.

I'm not saying I didn't like the old jumpers. I just think that the modern design looks better.

Other people think differently and that is fair enough. Opinions are like a***holes - everyone has one!

Superman never changed the S logo on his chest.

The New York Yankees never fiddled around with their NYC logo and put gaps inbetween the letters.

I know prior to 1920 they had some other design at carlton, but for the majority of the history of this club we have had a perfectly suitable monogram - if they introduce it as it looks on the "heritage" (2005-07) guernsey it will look "professional" enough.

I want to bring back the link to the soul of the club through the guernsey.

Maybe the slicker new guernsey is a symbol of how we have lost our way in the last 6 years.

If it's the one I'm thinking of KK - new version, with notches, but given the same'squeeze' shape as the 20-97 version - then I'm with you...I reckon that's a top jumper design. Agree completely with what you say above.

Are you able to post it again here KK?

Yeah, bring it back. Toss that slimmed-down, smoothed-over, modern wank.

And bring back the old emblem while we're at it ...

As long as the CFC emblem is on the front of the jumper, I'll be happy.

My kids love the silver (or whatever colour it is) away jumper.

We must move with the times.

Check out the Collingwood jumpers over the last 40 years and see how much they have changed. Eddie, of course, will deny that they have.

I agree with changing the jumper back to how it was 10 years ago......

On a related topic I hope the club does something with the way the merchandise is presented. In particular I'm talking about some polo tops (& similar items) which have CARLTON BLUES on them.....which is fine, but the design looks like it came from a Grade 4 kid using a stensil.
