comes a great story about Bowyer being nominated for a community award!

Bowyer now blue in guernsey only

http://www.realfooty.theage.com.au/real ... 02853.html

"It is to the advantage of many young people who struggle with chronic illness or depression that Glen Bowyer's life was nearly lost before the Carlton footballer won his harrowing battle with depression.

Bowyer yesterday spoke openly and eloquently of his arrival at the abyss, when long-term injury sent in him into a spiral of depression and alcohol and substance abuse. He told how he had emerged feeling compelled to help improve the lives of other young people challenged by despair."

Great story. It's fantastic that this sort of thing gets a bit of publicity. Glens obviously been to hell and back, and can advise some of our younger kids when they're feeling a bit low.

Keep up the good work Glen.

There is a lot to like about Glen Bowyer and like Nathan Thompson has done has done a lot of good about removing the negative stigma of mental illness and its a credit to him....having a close family member who has suffered deep depression it requires a deep resolve to manage and get over it and Bowyers attitude on the footy field shows what sort of stuff he is made of...wouldnt mind seeing Glen Bowyer hang around the footy club in some capacity when his playing days are over....

any person, no matter there field of professionalism who can come back from the depths of despair and have a public career is worthy of much praise.

One that wears the Navy Blue deserves our greatest admiration!

This guy is an absolute legend.
With his winning smile and rapport with the little kids and anyone in general, Glen is just a class act.
