Post subject:  What are your plans
As most of us have said, this is going to be gut wrenching & painful on Sunday, & the fact that it is drawn out until the very last twilight match of the year is the final kick in the teeth. I cannot bring myself to go & hope like crazy that we lose...it would just be too wierd.

I actually haven't been to the last 2 matches for the same reason. Went to the Saints/Dockers game while we played Ess & watched the score updates on the scoreboard - worrying when we were a few goals up in that game was bad enough, but I suppose if nothing else it did give me an insight into what the anti tankers have been on about; I'll admit that (& I'm sure those who have maintained the no tanking line will get an insight the other way this week :P )

Then for the North game on Sat I was lucky enough to have an afternoon nap...woke up to a text from another TCer which simply said "we got thumped".

Seriously, this Sunday evening I might go to the movies instead of the game (hey Tyrants has been doing that all season) & just hope to emerge to the news that we lost but nobody got injured & Walks finally took the mark of the year...or something.

Anyway, who's going to go to the match? Anyone planning on starting drinking at 10am & conveniently passing out at 5? Just interested to hear what everyone else has planned for Sunday night.

I'd actually thought of getting Verbs to the Regatta pub here in Brisbane for many, many beers to wash away the season.

Problem is that I think Verbs would be disappointed in my hope that the Blues actually lose the game.

So maybe I'll just head off to the pub on my own. One sad b@stard, beer in hand, snivelling as he puts the glasses down and prays that his team finds yet another way to lose.

Surely there is a Country Music song based around this sort of theme?

I plan to start a new league, containing teams playing some sort of indigenous, uniquely Australian sport.

I will then subject all supporters, members and players to my arrogant whimsy, all the while ignoring any real issues that may crop up.

The most successful team will then be targeted for a severe penalisation, as a scape goat for my continued blatant mis-management.

Then I will more than likely retire, having spirited my ill gotten gains away to a nation holding no extradition treaty with Australia, just in case anyone gets any ideas.

And I suppose I should probably do some housework.

Usually if Carlton is playing in Victoria I'm there. It doesn't matter what the weather's like, if I'm feeling like shite or if I think we will get smashed, I'll go because I love watching my team play. But, for the first time ever I'm thinking maybe not this time. I want to support the boys. I enjoy see all the young guys learning the game and any other time would love for them to have a win to finish the season on a high. But if we beat Melbourne on Sunday it will be such a hollow victory. What a way to finish the season. I wouldn't be surprised if the attendance is abysmal. Demon supporters are fickle at the best of times and I'm sure there are many Blues supporters who, given the circumstances, will choose to stay away. What's on at the movies? I haven't been for a while!

My footy club may be hosting a final between rival teams. If not, I'll come along to the Regatta. I don't know what I feel any more. And if I have a few beers I'll probably be able to convince myself that I'm a Melbourne supporter.

Fair point DOA.
But if it wasn't for tanking we wouldnt have got Andy here in the first place, so its not such a horrible thing.

Well given it's Father's Day this Sunday my plans will be guided by whatever hubby chooses for the day. It certainly won't be watching or going to the game (he's a soccer supporter :roll: )

Since the games on Fox I might try and get score updates on the radio but will likely just wait and get the final result.

I love my Blues and want to see the boys get back up there again. But I feel sick about our game this week. This situation is becoming so farcical that I prefer to avoid the game. I don’t even want to know about it. I want us to lose for the picks but can see the whole game becoming an increasing joke with the amount of suspicion and derision going on

Due to study commitments and parenting duties I can only attend one sporting event a weekend so I am going to baby-sit and study on Sunday and go watch the Victory on Saturday night. As a Carlton member it is the best I can do from an increasingly sad situation… :cry:

DOA - I admire your passion and stance and I can see your point of view. But in having a few words to your son and a few others as I have this year (and I try not to talk footy to them because - after all - they don't ask me about my job); the over-riding theme over the last 2 seasons has been this ...

"Yeah - just a bit sick and tired of losing"

That's a direct quote from 3 young men who wear numbers 1, 30 and 33.

Now - I'm a 'pro-tanker' this week because of two very simple reasons.

1. the AFL, in their infinite wisdom - decided to change the rules last year - knowing full well it would continue to slow the rebuilding process of the Carlton Football Club. Don't get me wrong - Andrew Demetriou is telling the truth when he says a healthy Carlton is good for the compeition - he just doesn't want it to happen while he is the boss.

2. I don't want to hear your son say those words again. I want him to be part of some success in what is a short career - and if given a break - whether it be in business or football - you take it. This is Carlton's 'break' and we may never get this opportunity again.

Could not much of this be fixed by simply challenging the draft in court?

Bring back free agency and Carlton will NEVER be in this position again.

If young players we have on our list DO NOT want to be part of the future of the Carlton Football Club - we sell them off to a club they do want to go to. We then buy in who we need and who WANTS to be here.

We are Carlton and f..k th rest only works when we can control our destiny. Playing for draft picks is not the way.

Having said all this I won't be shattered if we chuck the game against Melbourne, I just hope we do that good a job at it that the AFL is forced to act and we can then have the war with those bastards I would so love to see.

They have more to lose long term then we.
