It was a pleasure to coach the guys like Carrazzo, Walker and Simpson, Fisher, Waite, Thornton, Betts, O'hAilpin, Bentick, Kennedy, Murphy, Notice he didn't mention Scotland,Whitnall,Fevola,Stevens and Houilhan as they are older? |

Denis can be as dirty as he likes, but if you don't win games you don't keep your job. Surely it should tell him something that no one else (including the Kangaroos) has shown the least bit of interest in him..... |

Thank goodness he's gone. If he knew he was a dead man walking two years ago, why didn't he make a stand and demand the clubs support or walk out, instead of sucking us dry of cash and spirit before he finaly got rolled out the door. On one hand he reckons he's a better coach than when he was at North, then he goes on to say how he coached differently at Carlton than he did at the Roos.  Well, the record shows he was not a good coach at Carlton.
Until Archer and Carey get a job running a football club, he won't be coaching again. Which unfortunately he deserves for stringing us out when he knew in his heart it was all over. |

I'm going to do something probably unpopular here and focus on the positives of this article. What pleases me is that while he could be outwardly bitter and give those he felt responsible for his demise a verbal caning, he's keeping it to himself. The result is that the Carlton brand is saved from further trashing in the media and Ratts gets to start with a clean slate. I say well done Denis on the way he has handled himself post-sacking. It didn't work out with him as coach, we get to move on and look forward to the future. |

Not unpopular at all Buzz.Reckon you see it pretty clearly.I,like 95% of CFC supporters were wrapt when DP came to Carlton.His record at all level of football for 20years was incredible.Thought Denis was the best thing since sliced bread when he first came to the Blues.I am completely mystified why it didnt work out.Nothing against Denis,but it just didnt work.Full stop.We just all gotta move on with no hard feelings either from Denis or us. I'm sorry it didn't work out. I supported him right up until the end of last year. My comment about that article is that there are two sides to every coin. DP has his and Carlton have theirs. When all is said and done, as Mark Thompson said, and I paraphrase, - It wasn't the right fit; Denis at Carlton. Ultimately as another TC'er put it, it is about winning. He wasn't winning for many reasons. What's important here is that he is not a victim, and I feel he is making himself a little bit of one. He's a very clever media player, ableit one who uses a lot of hackneyed glib statements. I think we are all better for moving on, including Denis. |

I think we all came to see how limited he really was when it comes to coaching ability, and how useless his 'gameplan' is in the 21st century and without someone like Carey to mark every bomb you drop into the forward 50. We saw that right at the end, watching us get hammered by over 10 goals each week and STILL insisting on this one one plan. He was successful at Nth because he had the players to suit his gameplan. Carlton found him out. |
