It seems Carlton marketing has got into gear here in NSW anyway.

In the mail today was a package to my father (who has no football affiliations) that contained:

1) A little card with a picture of Bower, Lappin and Betts celebrating a goal on the cover and the text insider reads:

"Dear X
Optus is a proud sponsor of the Carlton Football Club. As a valued Optus Customer we'd like to help you cheer on the Blues with this complimentary Carlton banner. Have fun at the game!

2) A Carlton banner

It's great being in Sydney and getting this! My friends who barrack for other clubs can have Carlton shoved in their faces.

They'll learn from that.

My parents got the banner in the mail today also!! even though i'm the only carlton member in the family.

think its just for households who use optus and maybe in a survey acknowledged that they support Carlton. :?

But a nice gesture by the club!

Think new board member Paul Littman is behind the push into NSW.He believes there is a huge gulf in the Saphire Coast ( south east NSW ) market.A lot of people in that region are keenly interested in AFL and i reckon it is a great inititiave.

I got mine the other day.

Shame it arrived quite some time after Carlton played in Sydney, but it is a nice touch.

If Littman is a believer in a proper push into NSW, does that mean some serious efforts will be made up here in the future?

Certainly goes a way into suggesting a location for a team to be sent from Melbourne (for which I opened a discussion a while ago) but where would they play? Wollongong? Nowra? Batemans Bay?! There certainly aren't the facilities on the Sapphire Coast to support such a great club!

You're not seriously suggesting this indicates we're considering moving to NSW are you? :?
