Not much to report. Said that in his opinion, the B&F would be between Carrots and Simmo. Said the entire playing group was excited about having Ratts as coach. Mentioned the phrase 'next year' about six times. I think Dick's message has gotten through to the players ![]() |

Hopefully under Ratts can be more consistant and reduce his error count which must be extremely high. |

Waite's clanger count has reduced drastically since Ratts took over as coach. Whilst I don't attribute the improvement solely due to Ratts' influence, because what I've been seeing of late is that he's been putting his head over the ball when kicking moreso now than he had in the first 15 rounds. Maybe Ratts has had a word, but at the end of the day it's the player that executes the disposal, and he is solely responsible for his action. He's a bloody dangerous player, and verstalie too. he's the consumate modern footballer with his athleticism and ability to get to the ball or contest. I'm glad he's on our side, along with Fev, they put the X factor into our side. Don't be too harsh on Waite; he'd be a shoe in for a position in any of the other 15 teams. We're really lucky to have him imo. |

Gee, the players must not know anything then when in the absence of Whitnall he was one of the players chosen to be captain, and was the first captain chosen in the 'rotation'. |

Not the sharpest tool in the shed. Talented footballer though. ![]() Absolute garbage. Not being a TV performer doesn't make you an idiot. Stephen Silvagni was one of the worst TV commentators around but that doesn't make him an idiot either. I've heard Waite being interviewed on the radio and he had plenty to say on a variety of things. |

Would love to see Ratts turn Waite into a midfielder that can push forward. With his one handed takes of the ball and his athletcism there is a little Kouta in him. If we can cover the key positions he would be a great option through the midfield and then up forward. |

Fair enough BW. Thanks for the info; that's empirical enough for me to believe someone has judged him as such. As far as what constitutes a clanger and what doesn't isn't for me to worry about. I don't play thse dream team games anymore. I look at what Isee and judge for myself. What I look at is the kicks/ passes 'out on a full' (ridiculous) mistakes he did consistently in the first half of the year and compare that to the mildness of what I consider 'clangers' today. In fact, in my mind, the (so called clangers) are so mild in comparison to the past, that I don't classify them as clangers...just things that happen in footy...to most...under pressure, if that's what they call a clanger, then so be it. Each to their own. There's a lot I don't agree with when it comes to the data specialists, commentators, reporters and journalists...even opposition coaches, players and officials. From what I've seen in Waite in the last few weeks is certainly not a clanger king (second or not), he's been a destructive force to be reckoned with and has been one of Carlton's best players, let alone one of the best players on the ground. |

Fact is that someone who is prepared to take more risks to create play for their team-mates is going to have a higher 'clanger' count than someone whose football career revolves around 15 metre passes to blokes in the clear. |

Waite has all the physical attributes but lacks footy smarts. Can that be taught?? Don't know. But if he can get it all together he is a definite matchwinner. And yet at the same time can be a heartbreaker... ![]() |

1%ers - 20th in the league (highest at Carlton) Goals - 45th in league (despite spending half the season in the backline) Contested Marks - 34th in league Pro-stats have Waite at 10th in the league for errors, with players like Luke Hodge above him. |

He looks pretty smart when he runs in from nowhere and spoils or takes an incredible mark; when he bounces the ball up the wing and sizes up options and executes well; when he runs into the fowardline, dummies a pass, leaves the 'fooled' opposition behind and kicks a miraculous goal; when he dominates Lucas or Riewoldt and leaves them in his wake. He's shown all the footy world plenty; and he's admired. Some choose to recall the 'heatbreaks' and not the hole picture. jarusa wrote Quote: Fact is that someone who is prepared to take more risks to create play for their team-mates is going to have a higher 'clanger' count than someone whose football career revolves around 15 metre passes to blokes in the clear. Don't worry, he's got smarts alright; he's just not at his peak yet. ![]() |

..Waitey's a go'er, he's alright no doubts about it.. ..but he's indictive of much of our team.. ..for too long have we relied on too few to do too much.. ..next year with fresh talent and another preseason and more experience yadda yadda we'll have a more even, balanced and complete team on the field which should see him playing more consistently.. .as with others as well.. |
